read the past 3 or 4 pages back to see how ppl have been telling the difference between the two
there isnt any info or anything on the cover that would say new remaster, there isnt even a new release date for it
paramount sneaked it into stores because they think the other transfer was fine

Default NAXXXXR1 or NXXXXXR2 Number Does Not Exist for Best Buy Discs

I just inspected my disc in daylight, with a mag light, using a magnifying glass, and had three other people look at it. Apparently this number is not present in the discs sold from Best Buy that do not have the '2-Disc Set' above the Paramount logo. I wonder if Paramount is sending special remastered copies to Best Buy. Has anyone that recently purchased this from Best Buy had any success finding this number? Does anyone have photo that can specify the exact location of this number?

Well usually I'm on top of stuff like this but unfortunately I'm not on this title and I thought I read somewhere that some reviewers preferred the original Blu-ray release of the movie over the re-release version.

I bought mine from best buy and it had the number NA13081B1R2 on the back, maybe some of them don't have it

Where precisely was the number located? I see the BDL number but no NA number. Is it on the same ring as the BDL number? If not, can you tell me where you found yours? I swear, this is like finding a needle in a haystack. Could Paramount have made this any more difficult? I don't think so and I refuse to ship them my Blu-Ray because they have lost items I have shipped them in the past.

It is very difficult to see on the disc, took me about 2 minutes of squinting.

I have spent no less than 15 minutes looking for it. I have moved the disk in very possible angle and slowly rotated it a full 360 degrees. It's just not there! FYI.. I found it in two seconds on Private Ryan so I'm stumped. I have to assume at this point that if the number is not there, then it is the new version. I'm going to further assume the only ones that need need to be replaced are the ones that have NAXXXXR1. So it appears the ones that end in R2 or do not have a number at all are remastered.

FYI.. I called Paramount at 888-889-9456 and they told me that the R1 and R2 discs should be sent in. This is really confusing and making my head hurt. So I'm just going to say I have the remastered one and live with it.

I think you're thinking of Predator. A lot of people didn't like the waxy look of that "re-master".

guys you have to tilt the disc to the right angle or you cant see it at all. It is there you just cant see it when you're looking straight on. You need to have light on the inner ring and tilt the disc to the right angle

If someone actually thinks that, they need to throw their blu-ray player in the garbage and stick with DVD....

Best way to tell if the Remastered just watch it. If there is no EE then it is the Remastered version, simple. If there is EE then it is the first version.

I've tilted at every possible angle and that number is not there! Total time looking for this number is now almost 30 minutes! Paramount sucks and I will never by another movie from them ever again. If I don't find this number within the next two minutes, I am going to smash the disk and mail them the pieces for an exchange.

Use a magnifying lamp if you have one like jewelry repair shops have. If not get a pair of near-sighted glasses and a flash light.

Tried the magnifying glass with outer light around it, no dice! At this point I am beyond frustrated and frankly at this point the remastered movie is not going to be worth all this trouble. The slight improvement is not worth all this effort!

Have you played the disc to see which one you have?

No, because I do not have the original disc to compare it to. Is there a definitive way to tell if I have the remastered one by watching it?
