I got a new copy from Best Buy yesterday and a call from Paramount today in re: to my e-mail of a few weeks ago. They took to long to get back to me, and BB was kind enough to do a swap even though it was over the return time limit.

I confirmed in store it was the new disc, the old one I purchased 2 months ago ended in R1, the new one was R2. All the slips had no "2 Disc Set", only 1 copy had it missing on the cover art and no security tape. Looks great, and I ended up getting it for almost free after $10 rebate and $5 Bing CB!

The number - NA13081B1R2 - can be found right here on the discs... just hold it next to a bright light at an angle, even the computer screen will work.

And another ring with 103860B1 inside of that. Same as me and a few others here as well as reported on another site.

It's the remastered disk, it's dark grey with white lettering on the printed side. I watched some of it tonight to check it out.

Yep thats the other ring. Good to know! It looked better, but still had a few flaws in some scenes so I was just making sure. Thanks for verifying that for me.

Can you take a photo of the front of the disc? It has been reported that the old disc was silver but the new one is dark grey. It would be helpful to see a photo of the front of the disc because I am one of the folks that cannot find the NA number on the disc. Based on this forum I feel I have the remastered version but a picture of the front would be great!

FYI... According to Paramount, if the number is missing then it is the old version. However, I have called at least five times and get different answers from different people there. They are definitely reading from a script but once you ask them questions outside of the script, their answers vary from one person to the next.

Here is what I have determined thus far after spending quite some time analyzing my disc.

1) My disc I purchased from Best Buy that does not have '2-Disc Set' on the inner cover and outer sleeve does not have the NA number. I looked at my Braveheart disc and I was able to find the NA number in a matter of seconds.

2) My Gladiator disc is definitely different in color compared to Braveheart. Braveheart is silver with see though lettering (outlined lettering). Gladiator is a much darker grey with white letters. Some on this forum have said this definitely identifies the new remastered version. However, one would think that Paramount would ask the simple question: Is the lettering white or silver? This leads me to believe this may not be the way to identify the remastered version.

3) It appears the only definitive way to identify the remastered version is by the yellow UPC sticker or if the disc has the a number that starts with NA and ends with R2.

4) My disc seems to be remastered but it is really tough for me to tell because I did not view the original for a side by side comparison. Can some one tell whether or not the DNR was as bad as the DNR in Predator, the second release? If it was, then I know I have the remastered version because the actors in new Predator release look like wax figures.

5) Paramount exchange support definitely does not consider discs without an NA number to be remastered. The last rep I spoke with last night told me that sometimes the numbers cannot be read and they consider that not to be remastered. Again, this may be based on their script but two reps have told me this thus far.

I'm taking time to post this information to hopefully help others and to reassure myself I have the remastered version.

Here is what I've determined after spending ~2 minutes analyzing my disc.

1. It doesn't say "2-Disc Set" on the back of the cover insert.

If that STILL isn't enough for people to determine they have the corrected disc: The corrected disc is DARK GREY. Not silver like the original release.

Maybe some people need to see an eye doctor? Determining you have the correct disc is not some complicated investigation...

That seems easy enough. However, why doesn't Paramount Gladiator exchange support ask the simple question: Is the disc silver or grey? Is the lettering silver or white? Instead they are fixated on the yellow sticker and the NA number. The latter being far more difficult to find, if it exists on your particular disc, than asking the disc / lettering color. It just doesn't make sense but maybe someone can explain this to us.

But how is it even possible getting the right one from online retail shops

I don't see the new version anywhere. Why are they not doing the same what disney did with "Gangs" it is no problem ordering that one.Everyone knows its this one to get
http://www.axelmusic.com/productDetails/786936800562

Why don't they just release it in the stores and online shops like that so "ALL" can buy it

Because the people involved in this exchange program are working for slave wages and reading off some flowchart they were handed down from a boss who makes lightly more than slave wages. They don't know or care.

But seriously, The grey disc is the easiest thing to see. I have no yellow UPC on my remastered copy, and the NA number doesn't even end with Rx. I

have BOTH versions on hand, and can confrim I have both the old transfer and the new, and the biggest, most consistant difference is the disc color.

Hi Mike, thanks for posting back to my questions. I'm just really frustrated because Paramount support has been awful in regards to this exchange. What made matters worse is that there is no NA number on my disc. The vast majority of folks here and at Paramount stated that number has to exist. So I looked a Braveheart to see if it was me and sure enough, it's not. I found the NA number on Braveheart in less than ten seconds.

Just so I'm sure I understand you correctly. Not having the NA number on the disc is not a big deal? As long as the disc grey with white lettering and not silver with outline lettering, like Braveheart, then I have the re-mastered disc. Is that correct?

Sorry, I should have been more clear.

I have both discs on hand. The old (silver) disc has the number NA13081B1R1 printed on the inner ring of the back of the disc. The new disc (dark grey) has the number NA13081B1 on the back of the disc. Which is why I say these numbers aren't a consistent qualifier for verifying you have the corrected disc. Maybe all old masters are NA13081B1R1 (this seems likely), but not all new masters are NA13081B1R2.

If I remember to when I get home, I'll post pictures of both cover inserts and both discs of the old and new copy side by side.

Hope that helps.

Look at the screenshots. Pull up the scene on your movie. Does it look horrible like the screenshots? If so, you have the right NA # to give them from this thread. If not, you have the remastered.
