The first is the old disc, the second is the new remastered disc. If you look at the bottom right you can see the text above the Paramount logi is not on the second copy.

Attachment 21633

Top disc is the remastered version.

And again, the number on the disc is NA13081B1, so take that for what you will.
My remaster has light gray discs. Also R2 serial number, no "2 disc" set on slip case or back of Blu-ray cover art, no security tape on top of case.

I just called the paramount number and they told me I need to have the disc to read off some numbers.
Do they only exchange the movie disc or get a new sealed copy?

some people have been just sending the disc's in. they just want to confirm you have the original release.

and you'll get just the disc so send only the disc.

Damn paramount gotta be the dumbest company. Why the hell are they not just releasing the remastered version in retail shops and online shops everywhere so everyone can buy it and write a big "REMASTERED" on the cover so everyone knows what they buy.

I have checked NO online shops has the remastered version. This is really messed up.

Even if there are 2 pressings, which seems like a waste, people are making a bigger deal out of this than need be. One look at the PQ and you can TELL if its the remastered version or not. And despite numbers or disc color, every copy that does NOT say 2-Disc on the back has been the new edition. So who cares what color the disc is?

From everything I've read in this thread, so far the only definitive proof you are getting the remastered version is the lack of the security sticker on the top of the case. People have posted conflicting reports about all other tells except this.

Does the remaster still come with 2 discs even without the verbage on the back of the slip?

Talk about making things confusing for the consumer. Thanks Paramount!
Maybe one run for this "limited exchange program" and the other run for the 10th Anniversary Edition, which (hopefully) should be available for ordering soon?

i wouldn't say lack of security sticker is definitive, cuz like i said before, there was one copy i encountered the day they announced the remaster, and it didn't have a security sticker, so either it was an old master as some people have reported (it also didn't have 2-disc on the case) or they had put them in stores before they told anyone about it. the most definite way is what i posted earlier i think

1. no 2-disc set over paramount logo on slip and case
2. no security tape on top
3. MOST IMPORTANT: Shrink-wrap is the stretched melted-shut type, NOT the fold type
4. this version probably has the expired 10$ sticker on it/and a fresh, undented/undusty slipcover

THIS IS THE SERIAL R2, LIGht grey disc version

i went to a best buy today in atlanta (i'm from another state) to get my brother the new master and they had THREE different versions of the disc there. the old one with 2-disc and security tape, the newest one i just described, AND one that didn't have the 2-disc OR the coupon on it, and it had folded shrinkwrap. perhaps this is the B1 version without R1 or R2 at the end, or perhaps it is and old version in a semi new packaging (or maybe it's another R2 version as well??)...if you get that version as far as i know you're playing your chances....unless someone here can verify its contents if they had a "folded" shrinkwrap version. you would think that is the newest because it didn't have the expired coupon, but it was placed almost in the back of the stack, with only the security tape version behind it (the R2s with the coupon/fresh slipcover on it were in front). but yeah it seems all the ones with the indicators i described are certainly the new transfer R2 pressing.

The one I purchased from Bestbuy here in the northeast has the folded type of shrink-wrap. No security sticker and no '2-Disc Set' above the Paramount logo. My contained the dark grey disc without the NAXXXRX number. It also contains the preview trailers for Braveheart, Gladiator, and Forrest Gump. Does your set include the previews before the main menu of Gladiator? I believe there are two runs of the re-mastered discs. That is why a posed the question in a previous post: Does anyone have the dark grey disk with white lettering that has the NAXXXRX number? If the answer is no, then there are two runs of the re-mastered copy. If the answer is yes, then we have three runs of the re-mastered copy.

Paramount really screwed this up in a big way. They are also very secretive about what their doing which makes matters worse. I really think this is due to the fact they they never fully admitted there was a problem with the original release.

Mike call paramount and the person you talk to will have read the number in the mirror ring on the recorded side, near the hole. if the number starts with na and ends in r2 you have the remastered disc. i already watched it and its night and day over the old version., no dnr , no ee.

Of course there's going to be a drastic difference in PQ between the two releases since the COLOR TIMING WAS CHANGED !

Maybe the light grey discs are the ones with NAXXXR2 indicator and the dark grey ones do not have the NAXXXR2 marking. Does anyone have a dark grey disc with the NAXXXR2 marking like Mike's photo?
My disc starts with NA nd ends with R2. After i read that off the person said ''you have the remasted disc.

Stoopid grammar and spelling aside, yup, Paramount is dumb for doing an exchange program. How dare they not recall the original pressing which some people may not have an issue with and create an all new sku for the new version. Don't they know that people can't wait a few days or perhaps even a week? I mean, they've been waiting since September! Having to wait a little longer for replacement copies to get to retail stores is just out of the question! And if you buy a bad version, you have to use your own money to send the disc in for a free replacement!!! ::gasp!!!::

And now, in all seriousness, how do you know if any online retailers have the remastered version or not? There's not a new barcode or anything, so I am not sure how you'd be able to tell unless an employee went and checked every single copy in all of the warehouses just to see if any of them are remastered. And on top of that, they'd have to know what they're actually looking for in order to tell if it's remastered or not.
