The first is the old disc, the second is the new remastered disc. If you look at the bottom right you can see the text above the Paramount logi is not on the second copy.

Attachment 21633

Top disc is the remastered version.

And again, the number on the disc is NA13081B1, so take that for what you will.
But you can't go by that. MY disc is light gray and the bd case and slip cover don't have the 2disc above the paramount logo. The big thing is i call paramount read off the number starting with na and ending with r2 and they said thats the remastered disc. I don't believe the color of the disc is going to prove anything. For all i know they startred running off discs with light gray and then changed to dark gray. To me the number is the proof. and that number is NA13081B1R2. ,ACCORDING TO PARAMOUNT THATS THE REMASTERED DISC.

Right you are. I think people are just frinkin out over this. The best thing to do is call paramount ,read your number off and they will tell you to send the disc back or you already have the remastered disc.

I don't have that number on mine, and it is the remastered disc.

It seems, as has been said before in this thread, that the only constant on all remastered copies is the lack of the "2-Disc Set"

I think the most interesting thing about all this, and I believe this was stated before...

Just how long have some of these remastered copies possibly been sitting on the shelf without anyone realising it??

That's what I'm thinking as well...

I mean, people weren't looking for them, so it wasn't an issue. No there are obviously multiple pressings floating around, and one seems to be a little dated.

Or you just play it and look at your TV screen. C'mon people, if you cant even tell the difference, then you probably don't need the remastered version anyway.

The fact that it seems like Paramount may have been quietly phasing out the old discs to replace em with these new ones makes their whole DNR excuse in the press release all the more hilarious

this scene seems to be have a different look, should be easy to tell:
on the new disc, the sky looks more overcast:
http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/4664/glad12dbd.png

on the old disc, the sky has more contrast and is more blue, and Crowe's face is much darker against it: http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/7758/glad12zbd.png

The is clearly a difference in the overcast of the sky. This was the easiest screenshot for comparison.

My disk is the light gray just like Braveheart so I do not think the dark gray disk is required. I had no security tabs, no "2 disk set" above Paramount logo, $10 coupon expires 6/10, no Sapphire Intro, and the number on the disk starts with NA and ends with R2 (NAXXXXXXXXXXR2).

Hope this helps.
those are great examples!!! thanks!!!

But its been pretty clearly established that the "2-Disc Set" text pretty much determines the different versions. So why not just buy it and if its NOT the right one, then return it? Seems way easier than posting page after page of really needless complaining...

I mean, if people are talking about disc color and numbers on the ring and all that, then they kind of have to buy it and open it to see that in the first place... so if you're going to do that, just WATCH it and then you'll know. Very simple.

So call them anyway, its not like they ask your name etc. Tell them you have a dark gray disc with no number. I'm sure like mine theres a number on that mirror ring.

This thread is funnnnnny... I just realized - it's all about a movie, where grown-ups play make-believe! It's make - believe =)

Just let Paramount send you all back the corrected disc.

That's a player/load issue... not a disc issue
