I know were talking about paramount ,but all studios do this, sony does it ,wb does it they all do this. Even with bad reviews all over the internet, they won't admit to a poorly done transfer, its like getting caught with your hand in the cookie jar. I'd have more respect for a studio if they fess up and tell you they will correct the error.Luckly for us we have forums like this to inform us when a title has been mucked up. For people that have no interest in forums , or digitalbits, they have no clue whats going on. I like to think those who *****ed about GLADIATORS old master had an effect on paramount doing the remaster. There is many question still about what happened with the first one, but time to move on.

I just got off the phone with the guy from Paramount. He said to send the disk back and include your name, address and phone number. He didn't say anything about a return envelope self addressed etc. I thought that's what they were asking for.

I called on Friday night, and I talked to a gentleman that asked me what color was the UPC on my disc, I told him white, so after that he proceed to give and address and said that I have to include my address and telephone number as well, I put the disc on an envelope and promptly on Saturday morning I dropped at the mail box, hoping to hear from them soon.

I am convinced that the folks that gave this a good review probably have the re-mastered version, unbeknownst to them. Frankly, we did not know it existed until Paramount made the announcement. To make matters worse, they still have not pulled the old versions because they do not consider them to be faulty. This is a travesty, not only was there excessive DNR and EE, but the color timing was way off to boot.
I hope this helps folks out that may be looking for the new version. If I had this information up front, I would not have been so frustrated in the beginning. Please see my earlier posts if you want to see just how frustrated I was.

I agree i have never seen such piss poor job. You can't even get this on ANY online shops like axelmusic or amazon. Where can you get it please tell me?

paramount should burn in hell for such a disaster around this release

HE DIDN'T ASK YOU WHAT THE NUMBER WAS ON THE RECORDED SIDE OF THE DISC? Thats strange because there are no yellow upc's out there. I got the remasterd disc with a white upc. Man these guys at paramount have no clue.

Nah, it's too early to expect reviews. But I wouldn't be surprised if the transfer gets messed up somehow.

I just wrote Amazon and asked them if they're selling the remastered Gladiator. We'll see what they say.

Seeing posts like yours really makes me think they shouldn't have done an exchange program and just released some 10th Anniversary Edition instead. Or simply not fixed the problem at all.

So since people are pissed that they did a crappy job the first time around then they shouldn't have done an exchange program? Maybe if people were happy with the first one they should have. Makes sense.....

Actually, if you look, I was pushing pretty strong to get an exchange program going. I just didn't think these people would be so hateful toward Paramount because it hasn't gone as smoothly as they'd like. My problem is with the rude people saying things like Paramount should burn in hell. Like it's that big of a deal? Come on...

Since Paramount did the proper thing and DID offer an exchange (which they were in NO WAY obligated to do, and were NOT even responsible the the original Gladiator master in the first place), people are still ungrateful, which shows you the state of human beings in this day and age. I doubt they will go out of their way to please consumers again should something happen with a future release, since no one is ever happy or even thankful. I know if I owned the company, I wouldn't. Not with this kind of response. Thank the internet for giving all the hater, armchair experts a self-inflated soapbox.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I remember when people were predicting that Paramount would never offer an exchange program. I was ecstatic when they did. I can't believe people still find something to complain about.

Lets not sit here and pretend that Paramount didn't know that they put out an inferior blu-ray disc hoping nobody would complain about it. There is a thing called quality control and it was severely lacking in the first go round. Then there is the fact that they tried to thumb their nose at it by saying the other transfer was fine. I agree it's not a huge deal but Paramount is where the buck stops on this one. If they would just put out quality products in the beginning people would be happy and the company would benefit. If they put out more like Gladiator's first go round I will cease from ever buying a catalog title from them again so it really behooves them to just practice good business habits. Ultimately its Paramounts fault no matter how crazy some of the consumers got about it.

Picked up a copy of the re-mastered version at Walmart last night. SS-3 has it right as far as determining which one is which. Walmart had three on the shelf and only one had no security tape and the 2 disc set text missing vacuum sealed. And yes all the dirt, grime, pores and poc marks are clearly visible on this disc.
