Please?!?!

Can anyone tell me about the trailers? Someone mentioned them earlier in the thread.

I get no trailers at all and my BD player is connected via wifi to the Internet. Should I be seeing trailers or not? I really want to get past the last remaining question I have about this nutty release.

Oh, and my local BB continues to impress. They are the best about taking coupons and they literally bend over backwards. They know me because I am in so much. Before I even paid, the customer service girl opened my copy and read the serial info on the inner ring to make sure it was a match. If it hadn't been they have the headache of returning something that would have sold, but the biggest help was made apparent when she read it out loud. My late 30 year old eyes really struggled to see what this 21 year old had no problem with.

Then she rang me up and didn't send me to the regular cashiers. So bleeping cool how great this BB is. The next closest one always tries to get me to pay over the phone of I ask for something to be held until I can get in. Never heard of that before. This one holds stuff longer than the end of the day, they give you a full 24 hours.

Oh, I don't care what the other guy says. If they could change the slips to not say 2 disc set, why not get the yellow out right away? That's 3 versions and with Saving Private Ryan they got the new ones out wicked fast and there was no confusion or hassle. Just perfect.

Oh, so about the trailers...anyone? Please?

Gladiator has not been recalled. There is an exchange program for those unhappy with the DNR/EE version. The original release from last year is not defective in the sense of a problematic disc.

The issue is that Universal used an older HD master with Digital Noise Reduction (DNR) and Edge Enhancement (EE) to produce the disc. Uni and Scott Free have worked to produce a new 4k HD master approved by Ridlet Scott,

If you got it last year then you have the DNR/EE version. If you bought it recently then chances are you have the DNR/EE version.

Note that it is called a limited exchange program because the replacement program is limited to those unhappy with the DNR/EE version, Paramount has not issued a recall and retailers are free to sell through any and all inventory they have.

Call the Paramount Gladiator replacement line, they will tell you if you have the DNR/EE version or the 4k Version based on the numbers on the physical disc. Do not go by trailer or no trailer.

Ive had Gladiator since last Xmas...a gift, one of my very first BR's but...have not watched it yet because it was my fav movie ever for many years and seen it soooooo many times I got burned out on it.

Now I am a point to watch my BR copy and want to know...what am I looking for that is telltale that it is a "bad" copy to warrant such a long thread?

Id likely try an exchange but, as its a gift and I have no receipt...
If you had it since last Christmas, it is the bad one

No. The replacement program is advertised as a limited replacement program due to the way it is being handled.

The actual release of Gladiator is being shifted from the DNR/EE version to the 4k version.

Hmm, sounds like my best bet is to just go buy a brand new Gladiator in a few weeks once the new ones hit shelves? Is there a 'key' to look for on the new "good" ones?

I have not gotton to that one yet neither, but, its been bought in the last few months I recall.

If it has a yellow UPC code, you're good. If the UPC box is white, you have the f'd up one.

This thread is giving me a headache, it's gone absolutely nowhere in the last week. I love seeing the same questions and posts over and over and over again.

just got my copy from Amazon. Sad to say it is not remastered. Same ol disc like the old one I bought last year. The back cover does have "two-disc set". The number under the back logo ends in 6515, so the numbers mean nothing. My choices are to send back for exchange or just send the disc to Paramount. I'll contact Amazon first see what they say.

Undoubtedly, it is becoming very reminiscent of Groundhog Day, seems there is an aversion to the search function.

*Sigh* still waiting on my replacement copy from Paramount... *Sigh*

Funny story if anyone even cares... When I first bought Gladiator, yes less than a year ago, and Gangs of New York I swear I thought they both looked AMAZING!!! I even looked at the screenshots and everything online where people pointed out the DNR and EE and I honestly could not see it. Thanks to all my wonderful friends online, and after purchasing the remastered GONY for 13 BUCKS!!! , and really focusing and training my eyes after all the instruction and guidance by all of my fellow Blu-ray.com visitors, I now cannot watch the absolute AWEFUL presentation that is called the original Gladiator release or the initial GONY. Thanks a lot guys, thanks for ruining my ignorance, I really appreciate it

Hey, I had to change the pace of the thread a little bit, so sue me

Edit: I do, on the other hand, have a newfound appreciation for video quality.

Although it took a week or so for them to call me after I left a message, Paramount called me back and left a message. I called that 24-hour number and they were very friendly and helpful and forthcoming about the issue.

^threefiftyrocket, I know what you mean, I never used to be able to tell technical flaws.

Sent in my copy a couple of weeks ago and still no replacement yet, however:

earlier in this thread, a suggestion to email was made, prior to the telephone call directive. I emailed my name, address and phone number inquiring about the replacement program. This weekend, while I was out-of-town, I had a voicemail from someone at Paramount asking if I still had questions about the replacement program.
