Correct. I took a pic of the back of mine. If your UPC is yellow like mine, then you have the remastered version.

Yup. I picked one up at Best Buy for $10 recently. This is the one I got, yellow barcode. Very happy now.

I ordered this Blu-ray from Amazon recently. What happens if I discover that I have the "first press"/crappy version? What if my copy has already been opened when I find out?

I am going to elect to wait until people start receiving theirs. If this and the King Kong digibook are in fact Region Free, I will definitely get both of them.

I still don't understand why they don't distribute this kind of stuff to the US.

The U.S. gets plenty we don't so don't feel too hard done by,in regards to this being region free, wait if that is what you want but Universal are region free at least 99% of the time, this will be be region free I'm positive.

Previous Gladiator UK releases have been region free. This should be no different, same distributor. In any case when my digibook arrives I'll post pics.

I have it, I live in Spain though I have and Oppo BDO-93 locked to region A.
I bought it a week ago although I already have the US Paramount edition (the good one), I'm sorry to tell you, as collectible item it's gourgeous, it looks outstanding, plenty of good pics inside, not much info about the film though, but here comes the worst part: it doesn't look as good as the US Paramount version. The US release is clearly crisper and more detailed with no trace of edge enhanment.
By the way, European Universal digibooks don't come with a glossy finish, completely mate finish, which is more prone to stains. The editions are all the same for Europe, they just change the outer insert for each country. Mine, once taken the Spanish insert, is completely in English.

Is this 100% for sure the remastered one?

Also where there any issues with the Sapphire series of Braveheart like there was for this movie?

If you order from Amazon, you're basically taking a gamble. You could get the botched transfer or the fixed transfer. If you get the botched transfer, contact Paramount for an exchange.

Well anywhere thats not a risky gamble? Rather not send something off to UK and 2 months later have them say they never got anything.

*edit nvm on the uk thing looks like they do it in CA but thats IF they are still doing it. Do we have to call that number or can we just mail it out immediately? Would be better if it wasn't just a disc swap . Is Disc 2 of crappy transfer too or does it even matter since its just a SF disc?

Are you in the U.S. or Canada? If so, there's absolutely no reason to import from anywhere else.

The best way to guarantee getting the fixed disc is to go to a physical store and get a copy with a yellow barcode.

Is the transfer used for Gladiator from Universal in the U.K. the same transfer as the corrected and re-issued Paramount transfer released in the U.S.?

There was a post a few pages back stating they are different transfers entirely and the Universal one is not as good. If this has been established in this or another thread already, then sorry for bringing it back up. It is the first I have read of this. If this is the consensus, or if the Universal transfer is guilty of too much digital kung-fu from Universal, I will reconsider my U.K. digibook pre-order and just buy the regular U.S. release. The blu-ray.com reviews for the U.K. editions just link back to the U.S. reviews, and are not that helpful comparing the two.
