Its also possible that the fram with missing arrows is only shown for a fraction of a second and the arrow is visible during the rest of the scene. The flaw may not even be possible to point out during the scene.

Yes. They went back and added in the portions concerning DNR.

Guys, this BD features the same HD master shown on TV, used for the DVD, etc. but with added DVNR caked into it. Just like what Paramount did with some of the STAR TREK films.

It's very likely that this is the case, and that in motion no one would have ever noticed such an anomaly...

So even if we just throw out the whole arrow scene (arrows are missing, arrows are not missing) what about the DNR? Look at the extended scenes where no DNR is present vs the theatrical release screens where DNR is present.. The extended scenes, to me, definitely look better (ie more detail).

The flaming arrow going across the screen last for a split second. I highly doubt anyone has that keen vision to notice a possibe error in one singular frame.

If you look for flaws, you'll find flaws. And AVS does nothing but look for flaws. I'm not at all surprised someone over there posted such "travesties"

I'll reserve judgement until I watch it myself.

I highly doubt Paramount would let a whole battle go one with arrows missing and not fix it. I call shenanigans. However, being that I want to see this film and that it is coming out on Blu, regardless of how the PQ may look, I will purchase it. Especially since the AQ has no reported flaws.

Look at the flame at the bottom left. It has the exact same shape.

They match perfectly - except for the fireball and arrows, that is.

Interestingly, the three arrows nearer the catapult weren't erased.
What else need be said??? Real world objects suddenly vanished. Where did they go? Same frame - one image has more objects in it than the other. What happened to them?

The arrows and fireball have to fly from the left side to the right side. If the frames are slightly different the arrows should still be visible but in a different preceding location. But they are invisible. Where did they go?

We're seriously still nitpicking the possible removal of three meaningless friggin arrows from one still frame?

I'm done with this thread. Time to go enjoy some movies.

Besides, it's at the beginning of the movie they could easily have been just going frame by frame and stumbled across it quite quickly. It took nearly two weeks before anyone noticed the encoding error on The Matrix Revolutions, because it was the third film and near the end of the movie.

People here have seen the picture breakup/frame skip in Matrix Revolutions, and it lasts for only a split second.

Hair and dust specks stay on screen for a single frame and people routinely notice that.

The human eye is actually pretty good at that.

I don't think a few missing arrows is a reason to skip buying an otherwise great film.

Well I think what we can take away from this situation is that the world is ending, none of us will ever buy another Paramount Blu-ray, Blu-ray is inferior to the DVD (especially since the DVD has DTS ES 6.1 and this only has DTS-HD MA 5.1), they've ruined my childhood, and I am going to sell my entire movie collection. And, oh yeah, I still haven't seen Gladiator on Blu-ray...

I think we can agree that a frame skip is not the same thing as a tiny sliver of an arrow possibly not being fully defined.

Whether someone notices it or not is not the point. The point is that there are parts of the movie missing. That may not bother you, but it bothers me.

Are you familiar with POTC: The Curse Of The Black Pearl on Blu-Ray and the framing issue? Many reviewers, and viewers of the movie (raises my hand) missed it the first time we watched it. Somebody (I believe at AVS) noticed the framing issues and posted it. The studio took note and fixed the issue and offered a replacement disc for those that wanted one.

Kudos to Disney. It was the right thing to do. Even though many of us never would have noticed or complained.

Some of you guys scare me. It is like any negative thing concerning Blu-Ray should just be censored......

i think everyone (well most everyone) are making good points. i am concerned with the screenshots, but will reserve final judgment until i buy Gladiator. I look at it this way: at least I'll have low expectations.

those who've watched Gladiator: how is the AQ?

From the previously posted cap link:

Why do the spears go in and out of....existence???

The spears are now chunks of non-connected material.

Look, if these screenshots are a big fake hoax, then the jokes on me. Ha ha. But if they are true, then WTF Uni/Paramount? How could this get out the door??
