What if next time instead of arrows it's a part of someone's face? What if their cheek has a big dark hole in it from image manipulation tools "correcting" a flaw??

Again, it's not just the arrows. It is the heavy handed usage of DNR as well. It is the whole "Sapphire Edition" baloney and the studio trying to squeeze even more money out of us consumers by stating that "Sapphire Edition" movies are of the highest picture and audio quality.

Umm. There is no way any HDTV broadcast of Gladiator should look better (let alone as good) as the Blu-Ray version.

No excuse.

Why do the spears go in and out of....existence???

The spears are now chunks of non-connected material.

Look, if these screenshots are a big fake hoax, then the jokes on me. Ha ha. But if they are true, then WTF Uni/Paramount? How could this get out the door??
I'm not Photoshop expert but it looks like some of the arrows were colored over in MS Paint

It's not the three arrows. It's also the fireball. And the translucent spearhead on another frame. All of that points to automated dirt and scratch reduction without human supervision.

Now that is an issue, but that's not what's wrong. I buy blurays to enjoy them and stare at the amazing PQ not so I can look for tiny flaws and then complain about them on the internet.

Some flaws are incompatible with amazingness.

We can all see for ourselves next week.

Maybe this is really a spear from the Predator with the invisibility thing activated. That's what it looks like.

If I can pause my PS3 and see parts of the spears as invisible, I think that is a serious issue.

If a few missing arrows in a millisecond are the greatest flaws of the transfer then I think some people need to get off their soap box. To Matt Stevens would said the transfer was a travesty, you seem to keen on this arrow sequence. I assume if there were more egregious errors you would have had your little screen shot comparisons posted by now.

Believe it or not, a substantial amount of time and money was spent to make the fireball and thus create the illusion of a large-scale Romans vs Barbarians battle.

If you don't care about production values you might as well be watching The Beastmaster.

Again, if you believe DVD Beaver's statement that the Blu-ray of 'Gladiator' is brighter than either the DVD or the HD broadcast (and all their screencap comparisons bear this out), then wouldn't we also notice an overall brighter image in all these supposed Blu screencaps being compared with the HD broadcast? I don't see any difference in brightness between the two images of the fireball/arrows, which only leads me to suspect one thing....

You just said we'll all see it next week, yet you act like you already own the film.

I love how this thread is at the same seriousness of losing a child.

I am going to wait for a few more reputible reviews and judge for myself. Gladiator is a great movie and as long as it 'looks' better... then I will be happy.

Braveheart is my favourite movie of the two anyways...

No. All I have done is post screenshots with their originating sources. You made an assumption maybe, a false one. I "act like" I saw some concerning screenshots, which other well-respected members are equally concerned about.

If these screenshots are valid, then literally parts of the movie are missing on the bluray.

That is not cool.

Hey, who cares if Batman's bat ears are missing from his costume, right?

Who cares if someone gets stabbed with an invisible sword??

Then you have no right to judge the movie until you watch it.

Your making a big deal over nothing.

People aren't going to watch a movie for arrows or fireballs, there going to watch the movie because of the story.

If most of the things from the movie were missing, I would be concerned, but its only 3 arrows and 1 fireball >_>
