We already know Gladiator released by Dreamworks on DVD have DTS Surround.Paramount lately released Star Trek series containing DTSHDMA audio so the question is does Gladiator on BD contain DTSHDMA or not.I already know lossless sound is Lossless but regarding this movie would like to know the audio specs or just not yet announced by Paramount or Dreamworks company.

Thanks to all

Until they are distributed by Universal i'm sure you'll see TRUEHD. Now the question is the DVD's DTS version was 6.1, I wonder if the BD will have a 6.1 mix or a 5.1 EX mix?

I'll probably pick Gladiator up but I'm really hoping that the theatrical edition is included alongside the extended.

Hope the theatrical cut is getting released. That's Ridley's preferred cut as he stated in his intro.

I prefer the theatrical too. Except I love the added scene where Commodus has the 2 guys executed.

Wow, September 22, 2009!!! I almost gave up on this movie being released on Blu-Ray. In fact, I was going to post:

"A people should know when they are conquered."

"Would you, Quintus, would I?"

Classic lines from a phenomenal movie. I cannot wait to watch this on BD.

During the rendering and transfer process to Blu-Ray, many directors are not reducing the amount of noise from the original picture, creating heavily saturated amounts of film grain and noise, completely destroying the hopes of Blu-Ray owners hoping for a crystal-clear, flawless picture. The directors are claiming the noise and grain are how he/she intended the picture to look. That is by far the dumbest thing I have ever heard! Be prepared for a huge disappointment in picture quality from even a SD-DVD if they do not filter out the grain from the film. Movies that look great on standard DVD and HD Cable (Comcast, for ex.) almost NEVER seem to live up to the Blu-Ray hype. Take 'Terminator 2', for example. It looks absolutely horrid on Blu-Ray for the simple fact that the film grain is embedded in the transfer, rendering it is essentially unwatchable. Same thing with the movie '300'. I know it was meant to have a brooding overtone to it, but it looks like it was filmed with sand. Again, almost unwatchable and clearly inferior to even my HD Local News Station! Last time I checked, high-definition meant crystal clear picture, not so transparent that we can even see every single grain of every single particle of film! And does Sony expect us to continue plopping down $30 a pop for this extremely flawed technology that is being marketed as "flawless"? Until this technology is perfected or at least made to be what it claims to be, hold off! Why spend your hard earned money on lies? I haven't seen any PS3 updates yet that address this problem and quite frankly since the Blu-Ray is encoded a certain way, I do not believe firmware updates will fix it.
You should read the thread to educate yourself-"The grain is supposed to be there"-look it up in the forums...
