Tell me, are the *screenshot scientists* still posting and comparing I to B frames, even though they know that B frames are quantized higher than other frame types to save bits and visually they will naturally look worse.

Or have they at least stopped that practice and now just cherry picking in general ?

I agree and that’s the bad thing.

But the good thing is that no Paramount executive would even read this thread or know about its existence unless, you or I sent the actual link via e-mail to someone over there…………who normally gets 100 – 200 (or more) e-mails/day.

So...........rock on people.

but...but...but...what about the screenshot scientists and their letter writing and phone call campaign? Surely that will work!

You could wait until next week for the sale @ 22.99 or go back for a price match. If you buy both next week you can save 10$

Penton your an insider - so you have a great deal of influence here. Please try to act more maturely.

Here check out this comparison done by a different site.

Watch as more VFX disappear. That looks like a major flaw to me.

So my question to you insiders (Jeff and Penton-Man or any insider) is can you guys please give this movie a look and confirm or deny the issues that have brought up (of course when you can actually get a copy)? And if the issues are confirmed can somebody please reach out to the studio since, it appears, they don't read the threads at this forum or others?

It's a shame for it to look almost exactly like it's standard dvd counterpart.
I could go for a review of Gladiator and Braveheart also. After all, we don't want to have another Gangs of New York death-by-DNR, or alternatively another Donnie Darko VHS quality transfer.

I have very high hopes for these two. They deserve the best treatment possible as far as transfers.

A German site made this gif to show more disappearing VFX, this time the fireballs launch, go away in mid-air, then reappear.

Well, one frame or two frames could be a crapshoot, but if many frames reveal an unmistakable pattern, then I think you can safely draw certain conclusions. And the issues are usually much more obvious and not compression-related anyway.

Cut the Beaver some slack.

Those gif's are obviously slowed down incredibly. In motion, it's less than a blink of an eye, and probably very easy to miss unless you are specifically looking for it.
