Regardless, those screens are pretty much representative of what the movie looks like. Very disappointing.

Just read the digital bits review...still waiting on Marty to pick this up and review it. Kinda strange how he didn't get a review copy and the price is already discounted.

I don't think this question has been asked yet, and if it has, sorry.

For the people who have watched Gladiator on Blu-ray, how does it compare to the VQ of Gangs of New York? Is it as bad as that, better, or worse?

The pics could have been in 8k and they would still look like snit.

It's all over the place folks reading posts.

It's terrible and couldn't stand watching it.
I am or will sell it.
It isn't as bad as I've read posts about it.
It could be better but I'm happy with as it is better than the SD DVD.
I am taking advantage of the BB offer because I'm buying Braveheart anyway and get $10 off both and then another $10 since I have the SD DVD.
They may end up reissuing it but I have the best available copy if they don't and if they do, all the better and I'll buy it.

Etc. Etc. Etc.

I got it this morning along with Braveheart at BB, the latter a no brainer as I watched my rental twice fully now. I'll watch Gladiator first via my Netflix rental later today and SEE WHAT I THINK. It is going to have to be awful for me to return my purchase. I have no problems with TDK even with screen caps pointing out the EE. I have a 40" Samsung LCD. I don't notice it when I watch it. How many review sites gave that BD a 5.0 for PQ??

Grant it DNR is another story but I'll see how bad it is on Gladiator.

Master And Commander and complaints about the quality of that BD? I'm happy with it and is much better IMHO versus the SD DVD I own for both PQ and AQ with my equipment.

uughh.. (sudio) you must have pre-ordered and don't want to admit the pq is sh!t? I know jpg doesnt represent the full quality, im not stupid.. but come on, you and me both know a good blu-ray in jpg will look good, and a bad one bad.

also, agreed robert.. even with sucky image quality its worth a rewatch for the purpose of a great movie and audio.

Phil,

Slightly. Obviously, I noticed when I walked up to it but I sat down immediately to see if I could tell and again, it was slight, but it was there.

Again, not enough to condemn the previous scene, which I do contend didn't have all of the detail. Depending on the shots, the detail through out varies, with the extended scenes having the most.

Yes, it actually does. You need to cut out the UPC from your DVD and your Blu-Ray as well as send your original receipt.

That above screenshot of the scene where Gladiator needs to wear an oxygen mask is my favourite part of the film

That's the whole point, to maintain the respect, not to start demanding things. So a letter like this might be the difference between getting what we all want and getting snubbed.

Great letter by the way!

Good advice, imo.

Edit: But thanks for the screenshots anyway.

(1) Is it $10 for each of them or $10 for them combined?

(2) Does the rebate apply to all DVD versions? I own the single disc versions of both movies, but I know Gladiator has the Extended Edition with multiple discs and I think Braveheart also has a 2-disc DVD as well.
