They typically don't play the entire feature, just clips.

+1.

Welcome back. I think you have been gone for awhile unless I was just missing some reviews and posts you have made recently.

Again.... I've only seen it while out..... but when someone gives a movie all 5's and their review is "ROCKS!" or "WOWZ DIS MOVIES DA BEST" it takes away from the credibility...... When you see someone who gave a lengthy review, and explains their ratings.... it's much more apparent that they put at least a little thought into how they came up with their numbers.

I wouldn't trust the first-out-of-the-gate all "5" reviews, just as I wouldn't trust the clowns on Amazon giving it a "1"

Since many people find this movie to be one of their personal favorites.... emotions play a pretty big role.... I will try to post a review once I see it....

I'm not a big fan of the movie, and don't own it on DVD, so I haven't seen it since it was on the new-release wall of the video store...... so it should be interesting. I'll give my honest opinions for PQ/AQ/FQ (I won't watch the extras more than likely)

Heh, the Futureshop close to work was playing The Dark Knight and Transformers. I think they have these two movies in a loop because I don't think they bother to change them.
While I was at Futureshop I have not seen a single person grab either Gladiator or Braveheart.

Exactly. Which is why people are saying the Extended Edition scenes look amazing. They are clearly from a different and better looking master with much better color.

I think if the official review from this site is overall positive... we are going to have a riot on our hands.

I just watched both gladiator and braveheart on bluray,

In layman's perspective, Gladiator is purely horrific as far as bluray's standards are concerned. I was watching it on my 70" Sony Bravia. Gladiator is by far my favorite movie and I was waiting in anticipation to see the movie for myself in spite of the negative reviews. I'm not as picky as most of the people on these forums are as far as EE and DNR is concerned, but Gladiator is on another level. Russel Crowe's face constantly looks digitalized, in a sense he looks like a wax figure throughout the whole movie. The most pivotal scene in the movie where Russel Crowe removes his helmet to reveal his identity is a testament to this, and that scene is truly destroyed by the fact that Russel Crowe's face looks absolutely ridiculous. the complaints in regards to the disappearing fireball and arrows to me, are hardly noticeable. Nonetheless, I feel that that is the least of my concern. The entire movie is a disappointment, the images are rendered poorly, I feel as if Im watching a VCD on my computer. Is it just me or is the color pallette off throughout the entire movie? I don't remember scenes being so blue in the theater. I really wonder if Ridley Scott has seen his movie on bluray because I can hardly imagine him being less than pissed off when he see's what they did to his movie. The bluray is so bad that I'd honestly rather see the Gladiator dvd on my SD tv. Im sorry but as much as I wanted to like this presentation of the movie, I could'nt. Seriously do yourselves a favor and hold out on purchasing the movie.

Braveheart was well done for the most part, still not a perfect 10 as far as PQ is concerned, but definetly a well deserved upgrade from its dvd counterpart.

Paramount needs to get their act together and learn from studios like Fox and Disney,

Seriously, if they botch up Star Trek i'm going to be sooo pissed.

I find all this Gladiator discussion shallow and pedantic.

Just got back from lunch and bought Gladiator and Braveheart. 17.00 each @ BB after I used a 5$ RZ coupon. I'm going try to watch the EE version of Gladiator tonight. I've never seen that cut.

No - try late 1997 for the US launch of DVD (1998 for Europe). DVD has really only been on shelves for a little over a decade.

Tell the good people here what you think about Gladiator on blu-ray, your opinion is always warmly appreciated by me.

Default Gladiator and Braveheart $7.99 each?

I just picked up both Braveheart and Gladiator from Best Buy.... when you buy both, they are $17.99 each. That means if you own the dvd of either, it's really only $7.99 per blu ray($10 trade in value.....which sounds good to me. BAM!
