Again, if you really think the movie looked top notch you need to take a look at this content that Jbrooks has given to us
![]() From the Theatrical Edition - http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...theatrical.jpg Here's what we should have been given... From the Extended Edition - http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...r-extended.png Now, can you tell me that they are equal? And the top being the one you watched, would you really choose that over the Extended quality? I know the BD wasnt pure crap but I also know it could have been miles better. |

I really admire the folks being able to see the error of the transfer. I was watching on the 57" RPTV (720p/1080i) and I really didnt notice anything wrong with the movie at all, first 45 minutes. I was amazed at its clarity and sound. I can not say I am disappointed in the slightest. If the studio comes up with a swap program great, if not, I am not really going to be all that dissapointed. Mind you I havent watched Braveheart yet.

So you didn't notice any of the smearing/blurriness in the opening scenes? Or the jump in picture quality from the theatrical to extended scenes?
While the release isn't a total loss, it should look better than this. Sound is fantastic though. |

Watched the EE last night and I came to a realization. I find that watching movies on my projector vs my 52" Samsung is far more enjoyable because it is not the "Perfect" screen. I have a 720P Epson showing on a Elite Screens 106" Grey screen. The Epson is incredible sharp and has great color, blacks and shadow detail but it is not a Samsung or Sony LCD or a Kuro Plasma.
When I bought my LCD back in Jan of this year it was all about having the best quality picture within my budget. I found this site and it became a slight obsession for a few months on improving every aspect of my home theater to the point that I built another HT but with a projector. Spent thousands on both setups and really wasn't enjoying either one because of the constant tweaking, changing and surfing for more information. I stopped about a month ago buying equipment and not worrying about every little aspect of PQ and AQ. Don't get me wrong I want to see and hear a great movie but no matter how good of a setup I build there is always something better. Back on topic. I start Gladiator EE and was looking for anomalies for about 10 minuets and realized that I wasn't enjoying the movie. I stopped the movie, grabbed a sandwich and started the movie again. For the first time in quite awhile I throughly enjoyed just watching a great film and forgot all about everything else that had be distracting me during previous movies. Sorry for the long post. I am just curious if others are felling this way? By the way, at the end of the film I was very happy with the total outcome. Well worth the $17.99 |

Idk if im one of those kids, but your just as bad if you cant handle the truth.. When compared to some other BD (and thats what im judging by) this movie lacked detail and crispness.. Now, its not enough to ruin the movie, its just not as good as it COULD have been. If I could go back, I would have bought it again because it is a good movie and the audio quality is stunning. And yes, its worth complaining over if you know what it COULD and SHOULD have been.. If not, your just mr. happy go lucky defending any quality the movie studios throw at you..

What's worse IMHO is people accepting to buy new blu-ray with 10 years old transferts on them.
It would be like buying the latest Mac Pro to find out the OS on it is OS9, or buying a recent PC and finding out it only have Windows 3.1 on it. This would be unnaceptable and viewed as swindle practice by everyone, why then on Blu-Ray, similar proceedings are accepted, making buyers happy as long as the new port offers a marginal 20 % improvement in colors and PQ over the upscaled DVD, which are just inherent to the format ? |
