Agreed. A very odd way to introduce your brand new "Top-of-the-line" product.

If I were in charge, I would make sure the transfers were mind bogglingly fantastic, and gotten as many screeners out as possible very early to create a buzz to hype sales.

But what do I know?

Maybe if everyone makes a big enough stink we'll get a fixed edition sooner than later ala the Fifth Element or T2.

i'm not condeming anybody that buys this title.sure you can put on ebay, but when you buy any title its a sale in the books.paramount gets the sales report and says see we can put out subpar titles and will sell them.

thats the problem.your not going to walk into a car dealer and buy a new car with defects in it.why do the same with bd movies.blu-ray player manufactors are doing there job and it shouldn't be any different with the studios.

if blu-ray is to become the product you got to have this to me is the main area that has to be fixed.as long as we accept sub-par titles like this ,i guess they don't have to fix anything and blu-ray will never replace dvd like they hope.

People not buying it with the intent of sending a message to the studio isn't really going to work IMO. This will sell very well for a catalog title regardless of what a very small minority of the public thinks about the quality. I'd love to see a very good release instead of what this seems to be but this is what we've got for now.

I watched Gladiator last night, and it wasn't THAT bad.

Was it deserving of fancy title like Sapphire Series? Probably not.
Was it considerably better than the DVD version. For sure.

The extended scenes do look amazing though.

We get the version smeared with maple syrup and containing a voucher for a free hockey puck at your nearest Canadian Tire store and a large double-double at Tim's.

I highly doubt that there is anything different at all in the version being sold in Canada.

For all the people complaining and asking, I still haven't seen any contact information. Hey, you guys who complained, who did you complain to?

As stated on page 88 or 89, I only have a problem with this film because it's being marketed as having top-of-the-line audio, picture and story under the Sapphire brand. If they studio is going to make this claim and brand films as such, they need to live up to their own marketing. Without all the Sapphire fanfare, though, this release wouldn't bother me.

So for those of us who want to help get another transfer, who should we contact? There are numerous posts featuring a note of complaint or whatever posters claim they sent to (who? Paramount? proper authorities? Blu Ray police?), you mean to tell me not one can post the contact info?

It shall be done then!!! I will type up a letter to let them know how joyous I was viewing this wonderful transfer of an epic movie! I will post it on here for approval, and maybe you could even proof read it for me.You know all us ol' regular joe six packs aint good at writing up no darn letters and we dont no how to work no dang puters either.........
In fact....I think everybody that was satisfied should write paramount of their approval. Maybe if they get enough emails to counter the flood of disgruntled snob mail they will release the 10 disc ultra ultra mega special fan appreciation edition!!!

When I bought my LCD back in Jan of this year it was all about having the best quality picture within my budget. I found this site and it became a slight obsession for a few months on improving every aspect of my home theater to the point that I built another HT but with a projector. Spent thousands on both setups and really wasn't enjoying either one because of the constant tweaking, changing and surfing for more information.

I stopped about a month ago buying equipment and not worrying about every little aspect of PQ and AQ. Don't get me wrong I want to see and hear a great movie but no matter how good of a setup I build there is always something better.

Back on topic. I start Gladiator EE and was looking for anomalies for about 10 minuets and realized that I wasn't enjoying the movie. I stopped the movie, grabbed a sandwich and started the movie again. For the first time in quite awhile I throughly enjoyed just watching a great film and forgot all about everything else that had be distracting me during previous movies.

Sorry for the long post. I am just curious if others are felling this way?

By the way, at the end of the film I was very happy with the total outcome. Well worth the $17.99
That's odd.... my smaller 1080p television shows the same amount of DNR and EE as my 106" display that is 720p, but I find it MORE noticeable on the 106" screen because even at a further viewing distance, everything is so much bigger, including the halos etc.....

Why? So he gives it a 3.5 or 4, that's his opinion..... not B.S., just an opinion.

Well I surely wasn't going to read 85 pages on my lunch break at work ! I read a few pages. Just seems odd to me that some people say it was sooo bad they shut their tv's off after a few minutes while other people like me think the picture looks great. Something's wrong there.

Is your display calibrated?

What size is it?

How far away do you sit from it?
