Was always interested in it and when the need came for a new set, if the price was right, was going for it.

Now I'm an addict!

After watching my bloody Valentine many years ago in the red/blue glasses I knew when they released the new 3d TV's I had to have one. Then was at best buy and bought the Panasonic Blu Ray player to get the avatar 3d Blu Ray in the promotion they had.

It's enjoyable,I recently bought a projector and when I said to the guy in the shop "I want the 3D model" he replied "really?"

Certain films are superb in 3D,Pacific Rim,Gravity,Dredd,Avatar to name but a few, even Titanic and that's how I prefer to see those films.

If a guy is selling a projector, and doesn't recommend the 3d on any model decent at it, then he shouldn't have his job. I get not going 3d especially on screens less then 50". But on a projector it is borderline criminal not to.

Despite my collection of 3D absolutely no where, I don't have a 3D TV, I thought I would by a 3D TV after my 2D TV dies. So I guess the only hope for me now is to get a 4K/3D projector.

Well, I can't argue going with a projector if you have the space for it (it is so much better for movie viewing then a tv). But if you don't I would wager we shall see 3d back in the next few models, probably only higher end ones though. We shall see though.

Seriously though, if one is interested in 3d or not, I can't recommend going front projector if you can make it happen (I really can't atm but make it work for the occasional film). It is so good.

I have loved 3d movies since they started... I finally got a nice 3D 4K tv recently .
Its great that I can get that same experience from the theatre at home. 3D adds so much to a movie IMO whether subtle or full blown 3d experience like guardians of the galaxy 2

I had my projector for over a year before I decided to use the 3D. Reading about the work done on Gog I decided it was something I couldn't miss out on.

Love Fairbanks.
My favorite is the reissue of MAN IN THE IRON MASK with sound and Fairbanks Jr speaking his father's lines for him.

Hi jt,

For me, I'd be curious to see it but I'm for leaving the silent films silent as far as history is concerned just like colorizations. Do it, but don't make them the mainstay. For silent films, the entire effect of pantamine is lost. It sets a mood that cannot be recreated with sound and in fact, makes the acting appear like the parody in Singing in the Rain

Thief of Baghdad my favorite but you have to see The Black Pirate in early two strip technicolor.

Yet won't be a hypocrite. Have an old VHS copy of King Kong in color. . Even watched it simulated 3D (my darbee helps with that). But refer to the original as the benchmark to go by and that one as a lark.

I have seen THE BLACK PIRATE in two strip Technicolor. I never thought the two strip process had much merit. On another note however take THE SEA HAWK with the sepia tone Panama sequence which I thought was very effective. I also have THE THIEF OF BAGHDAD in sepia as a PlayStation digital download. Wonderful with the Rimsky-Korsakov SCHEHARAZADE used as the score.

I guess if I had to choose my favorite movie genre it would be the swashbuckler. THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD, THE THREE MUSKETEERS 1948, SCARAMOUCHE, THE MARK OF ZORRO. To remain relevant to 3D the duel atop Notre Dame in the 2011 THREE MUSKETEERS is a wonder.

Hi JT,

Tried to reply to your private message but you don't accept replies.

It is wonderful with Rimsky Korsakov. As if it was written for the original theater presentation.

I think Pirate was the first two strip feature film. When next aired on TCM, catch the silent The Viking.

Because these conversations don't relate to 3D is why I hope to talk with you privately.

Think I'm going to watch Peter Jackson's King Kong simulated.

Hey, I can consider it my own rip off and not one from Asia or Germany so not supporting pirates or copyright infringements.

I cannot comment on the visual upgrade from 1080p but I do know certain classics have still not made their way from dvd to bluray after all these years. For me, one recent experience was the 1953 War of the Worlds which was remastered for DVD and a great upgrade from its original DVD release. No bluray and the DVD up converted and with my darbee is really quite good.

The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm and no bluray. Same with HUD. As is Julie Andrews in Star. Or Lord jim. Not to mention some simply fun films like those with Steve Reeves from Italy.

So if bluray still doesn't offer nearly as many titles as DVD, what's going to be except other than new films? Maybe down the road, but will the industry be patient enough?

Also, will 4K be limited to discs or will it eventually come to cable?

My knowledge on the usage of message boards is painfully inadequate. I think I have remedied the situation if you care to try again.

One thing I look at when I am contemplating upgrading to a new format is access to product. I think it is safe to assume that most of us on this board are true film buffs. When a format like 4K only offers one 1950's title ( BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI) it tells me that the studios aren't interested in remastering their catalog titles again. They are gearing up for digital distribution more than anything else. Not interested in any change on these terms.

That's three off-topic posts in a row, we have a 4K movies forum and a general 4K forum where you can discuss 4K if you want to...
