i liked those jokes as well....i would assume any jokes in these movies will be "inside jokes" between the dwarves themselves.

if they are expanding the movies to include other characters....i hope they keep the humor out of those parts and limit it to the dwarves themselves.

Agreed, I chuckled at those jokes so I didn't mind them at all. Some needed brevity in some movies that could have easily taken themselves too seriously.

Nice, these two look exactly like what a dwarf should look like IMO.

You can tell they are related to Gimli. One thing to remember is that Dwarves have a culture. Just as you get odd balls and weird clothes and weird hairstyles in human society I am sure a Dwarvish society would develop this too. In that regard I think Nori, Dori, and Ori look great. It makes he culture seem real and less stereotyped.

Am I the only one who breathed a sigh of relief with the release of this photo? I was starting to worry that it was going to be a sideshow of carnival dwarves. This photo definitely hints back to what we are familiar with in LOTR. Maybe Dori and Nori are outlaw dwarves?

that new pic is awesome!!!

i would think the last picture has them looking differently b/c aren't Dori, Nori and Ori younger than the rest of the dwarves they are with??

or is that fili and kili??

To be fair, IIRC the only dwarves we saw in LOTR where Gimli and the dwarf kings in the prologue of FOTR.

Hardly enough to assume that's what all dwarves looks like, unlike say hobbits or men or elves or orcs/uruk hai who we saw a lot more of.

Maybe not so much farting. But watching those scenes last weekend (and ones with the hobbits as well), it's pretty much a shot of a character looking bloated accompanied by an ambiguous gassy sound effect. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that the characters were just burping.

The new shot of Gloin and Oin look pretty good. But if they're trying to explore Dwarf culture, may I suggest an unnecessary storyline where one of the dwarves' sister who's always wanted to go on an adventure stows away in their gear and tags along? This way we'll finally see what a Dwarf woman looks like!

There were Dwarves at the Council of Elrond too.

Their are dwarf women.

Of the 7 dwarf lords, 6 of them awoke from the slumber Ilúvatar put them in with their wives; only Durin I awoke alone.

Ah that's right, Gimli did have 2 or 3 other Dwarves with him.

So I guess there's 7 or 8 dwarves shown or thereabouts--hardly enough for a representative sample of Dwarven features and hairstyles!

Yeah, the break stuff was a little boring, but it was neat seeing all the gorgeous areas in NZ they were scouting for locations.
