Not sure if this has been discussed but Im wondering if anyone knows what resolution the hobbit master will be released to the theaters in-2k or 4k. I know it was filmed in 5k but I dont believe its possible to release a 4k master of the hfr 3d version. Been looking everywhere for an answer to this,I saw this post from another thread-dont know if its true or not, if it is its a real bummer, still doesnt answer if it can or will be released in 2d 4k master: "An IMB (integrated media block) is also required for 4K 3D or HFR 2D (the hobbit is not being released in HFR 2D), a projector without an IMB can play 4k or 2K 3D but for presentations beyond that will need an IMB. Right now 4K HFR 3D is beyond the capacity of an IMB and the file size of a 3 hr feature in 4K HFR 3D would exceed the capacity of harddrives certified with the IMB system, so a solution is not in the immediate offing."

Someone please please get his thoughts on the hobbit trilogy. The man probably had a seizure when he found out it was being made into a trilogy.

Not the latter - their HFR version is in screen 2, not in the IMAX screen.

In Southampton the IMAX version is 24fps and the HFR version is on their second biggest (I think) screen. It's certainly a decent sized screen, even if it's not their IMAX one.

Not a problem, guys. The website i found it on is a source of staggeringly inept journalism, non-existent moderation in it's forums, and amateur editing standards, exemplified in the form of it's owner, bloated info-whale mr Knowles.

The above Docu has convinced me that Jackson is going to take this film and knock it out of the ballpark. I'm seeing it opening day in Oxford with a bunch of friends from the university Tolkien society.

Utterly amazing that after stretching the book with the appendices to three films, the first film, in extended form, is getting another 20 to 25 minutes?!
Does he not have an editor that can tell him no or stop? Holy crap...

Honestly, I'm just going to wait until this trilogy is done and then I'm going to wait to see if Jackson re-edits the six Rings pictures in chronological order to see what that's like before I ever lay eyes on the Hobbit films.
