Default Firefly, the Complete Series (Blu-ray)?

Firefly: The Complete Series Blu-ray

Firefly: The Complete Series Blu-ray Review

This is now posted at Amazon as a "place holder". Was this show originally in high definition on television? I really liked the movie Serenity and bought Firefly on DVD. This would be a "double dip" for me if the Blu-ray encoding is good.

Place holders are automatically generated when people search for things. It means nothing

Yes, it says you can sign up for notification. And, unless it's a crappy encode, a definite buy.

As would be Serenity should (or should I say "when") its studio make a Blu-ray version of it.

I own the FF dvd set, as well as both releases of Serenity on SD, and would gladly do the same again on BD... especially if it meant relighting the firefly and getting it back on tv. Im damn surprised the sci-fi channel never bought it.

So how are the cover art images generated?

Like for the Matrix on Blu-ray.. which mentions no release date but has the Blu-ray cover art.

my guess is photoshop... you they got some employees over there that do those sorts of things... they probably do them way in advance.

I see Universal HD channel is showing an episode of Firefly tonight. That might help some folks who haven't seen it yet get a taste and in HD doesn't hurt. "Train Robbery" is a pretty good episode to watch.

I'd buy this, if the encode is great. Firefly is a great show.

So what's the real story? Do Amazon placeholders mean anything?

One of my favorite series! I have FF on dvd and would buy it in a second on Blu.

Sometimes. Usually it is just a place holder something that based on search volume, so Amazon decides it is worth it to make a place holder. On rare occasion Amazon gets something official but I do not think it has happened yet for a Blu-ray release. I would probably say no, because I am sure Fox would have stated something official.

This is such a good series FOX never should've took it off the air. I bought the FF series off amazon and would definately buy it on Blu Ray. I'm hoping they release both FF and Serenity on Blu-Ray. I guess we should start a petition to have FOX bring the show back. BTW Wash is in 3:10 to Yuma as the doctor

Some of the best storytelling I've ever seen on a TV show of all things. Finally a sci-fi series with writing and plots on par with the various StarTrek series'. The characters were true gems. Everyone looks at me puzzled when I say it's like a "Sci-Fi Western". But if you watch a couple episodes you will see why. It's worth it!

The exec who made that decision should be forced to spend the rest of his/her life in an isolation cell with their only distraction from the four walls being reruns of the worst sitcoms and infomercials ever to curse television, only broken up from time to time by 48 hour Barney marathons.

Seriously, one of the biggest travesties in television history. Don't know if it is true, but I have heard that there was or is one particular suit at Fox that has some kind of personal issue with sci/-fi/fantasy/supernatural type shows. Probably a big reality show fan.

Would buy the show in a second on BD.

BTW, anyone who liked this show and who likes to read science fiction should read a book by Mike Resnik called Santiago: A Myth of the Far Future. A very different universe, but the same feel of a frontier western sci-fi. Was supposed to be adapted for film, but I guess it died in development hell.

Chris

The same idiot that was responsible for cancelling ANGEL at least one season too soon perhaps?

FIREFLY is a must buy for me as well. One marker or all of Whedon's work is the cast - their interplay is some of what I prize the most.

However, Universal now owns the rights to Firefly. They acquired them when they got Joss to do the movie. Which, the rumor is, that Uni wanted him to pen and direct Wonder Woman and sign him to a 3 movie deal. Whedon said he would if they let him do Serenity. Or at least that's the rumor.
Umm, no you got things twisted up

Universal has the right to do 2 more Firefly projects between now and 2014

Silver Pictures, who acquired the rights from Warner asked Joss to do Wonder Woman after he did Serenity

There was a browncoat exec at Uni that snatched up the rights when Joss got permission to shop around
