I don't know anything special that will keep you from going neutral, but if you hate the fact that the war is being dragged out then stay BLU. People going neutral is going to extend the war. Have faith and hopefully WB will go BLU exclusively in the beginning of 08.

What the hell, I think Josh is doing some live thing for blu-ray.com at the upcoming CES, which means I just may have to wear that bag over my head again when I see somebody carrying a camera.
When is the CES in January?

Reposting questions that were moved to the 3D thread.

paidgeek, besides the PS3 how many (just the numbers, if at all) Profile 1.1 BD players are being tested right now for compliance with Profile 1.1 test discs? How many titles in the first quarter of 2008 are being slated for Profile 1.1?

Max, when will Warner release Batman Begins, V For Vendetta and other IME discs onto Profile 1.1 BDs?

Like I've told everyone else that seems to be wavering because of the Sci-Fi shows, just give it time. I am as big of a Battlestar fan and Trekkie as anyone, but going neutral is only going to prolong the war and prevent us from getting the Sci-Fi goodies on Blu. Plus, they should be done better on Blu. So stick with Blu, at least until February 08. Until then, do like me and enjoy Battlestar and Star Trek on Universal HD and Sci Fi HD, and watch your dvd boxsets on your upconverting Blu-Ray player(s).

Are there any plans to bring Casablanca on Blu? It's the one movie I'd kill to have on HighDef, and as it is WB i find it hugely unfair that only HDDUDd have it.

I don't believe that we've seen any significant list regarding what Warner's is going to release *next year* in Blu. I, too, am hoping the appropriate insider gives us some hints. Maybe that will be some of what we hear during/after CES in January.

Here's an even better option - DON'T buy the box sets on DVD at all, and just watch them on Universal HD.

The faster DVD sales taper off, the sooner that companies like Universal will have to get serious about HD media and put their content on a format that will actually SELL instead of just selling their content for bribes.

Seriously, every dollar that the DVD market drops in the next few months is money that the executives have to try to make up somewhere else to please the shareholders. If everyone with HD players stopped buying low-def media today, it would have a noticable impact on their sales and force them to step up their efforts to get HDM to reach mass adoption levels.

It is just the tip of the iceberg. And should remove any doubt about BDA companies sharing technology with Chinese companies in order to lower player costs and help entrench BD in China.

If push comes to shove, I'd rather he buy a DVD box set than a HD-DVD player + movies. Pick your poison.

It should be out (or sheduled) in Italy. So I expect it soon to be announced. Hopefully titles as Willy Wonka and The Matrix too. I think they waited with these until the PiP feature was ready on Blu. As PiP is expected early next year, I think/hope these releases will follow soon.

Do any of our insiders have any insight into Fox?
ID4 is indeed added to the very long and embarrassing list of cancelations.
This is becoming all too common and reflects badly on the format as a whole.
There has to be a reason out there.

More than likely like Master and Commander before it they found a major bug and can't fix it in time for Christmas replication

I really wish all you people had been around for the early days of DVD. Ed Wood was solicited I think _4_ times before it actually showed up 3-4 years after the first go around

Imdb News is having a field day between SM3's "Lackluster sales" and the Toshiba press anouncement of their "750k HD DVD player milestone".

Honestly Insiders, if any of you has any say in releasing official numbers, please do so. the 300% PS3 sale surge doesn't tell anything about volume, and it doesn't translate directly in Blu Ray market when you read it.

Take a low key estimate on PS3 used as Blu Ray players, and release a number PS3 Blu Ray + standalones to shut their mouth. Any unitiated reader would be tempted to think that HD DVD dominates the market ...

Question for Paidgeek?

Just curious if we will see DTS HD MA on the PS3? Yeah I know you most likely been hearing this for awhile, but there are a few posters on the AVS(FUDers Forums) that say it will never happen...

Just wanted to add to this that I would be perfectly fine if DTS HD MA was only supported when the movie was playing by itself without any special features. That is, if enough of the processor or memory would be needed for doing internet connectivity stuff, PiP, etc., then dropping to the DTS core whenever other things are running would be fine with me (as long as the transitions didn't have big problems, like popping).

That works if you have a single CPU. Most settop players use specialized chips for each operation

The PS3 has the horses to do everything, so whatever happens, lack of power isn't going to be the cause
