Christian had a thing for Tony Curtis so he brought over "Some Like it Hot" and "Sporadicus".

Wonderful, wonderful news! Wish there was a commentary, or even multiple commentaries. I can't remember what features the Criterion DVD version contained....

I'm just about to preorder this.

In the future, I'd like:

HELEN OF TROY
SODOM AND GOMORRAH
BARABBAS
and a bunch of the Steve Reeves films

I don't understand why the Press release is saying it's from 35mm originals when I believe the original is 65mm?

"Super Technirama 70 was the marketing name for films which were photographed in the 35 mm 8-perf Technirama"

Yep, it was shot horizontal 8-perf 35mm with a 1.5x squeeze, which yielded a 2.20 aspect that was perfect for 70mm exhibition.

The original is horizontal 8/35 anamorphic (Technirama) that is still to be considered a "Large Format" (like VistaVision that is the same but flat)

Spartacus and other Technirama movies were PRINTED to 70mm but they were actually blow-ups albeit not by much.

To put it simply (an estimate):

Standard 35mm negative= 4K
8/35 negative= 6K
5/70 negative= 8K

To put it even more simply it is as big as still photography 35mm - that is a lot bigger than movie 35mm.
