Hey...I'll be happy to join if someone can give me a tech hint on why my folding app is continually uploading my work file, locking up my ps3 and not allowing me to start another work unit

Sounds really strange... has your PS3 Internet access 24/7?

Of course running 64-bit linux natively works even more (my quad-core 64-bit churns through packets quickly, including the ones that are worth 2500 points).

Still think the PS3 doesn't get the # of points it deserves however...
Why does the PS3 only get 250 - 350 points of credit when it completes an 8 - 10 hour work unit? Shouldn't it get something closer to the PC's 1,500 - 2,500 point work units? I know it doesn't handle the full complexity work units of the PC, but it sure seems like it gets reamed on points unfairly.

Looks like you got those settings working properly. Heck, you're about to step into the top 200.

Happy Folding!

Try this make sure you have a solid internet connection first. Restart your router if you have to. Then turn off your PS3, wait 3 seconds and turn it back on. Wait for it to connect to PSN (<--important), disable "media server" on the network settings, and then run folding@home. You might not be credited if the WU is expired, but it should be able to download a new WU

If that fails highlight the Folding@home icon on XMB, press triangle then select delete. Once thats done selecting the icon again will re-download the client/application. Now you'll have a brand new folding@home client!

I totally agree. Plus with the PS3 you have to dedicate the machine to folding, unlike with the PC or Mac clients you can do other stuff (surf the web, download, create word documents) while folding@home. We completely dedicate 8 precious hours to the project and we get 300 measly points?

I noticed my credits going down over the last couple of days but didn't think much of it. Then today, when having a look at my 2nd PS3 - the one folding 24/7 - I noticed it was locked up in the folding screen. It wouldn't respond to any command and required a hard power cycle :-(

Hey,
I'll leave my machine folding anywhere from 30 minutes to three or four days at a time. Recently though, when I quit folding, my ps3 wigs out. It won't go back to the main screen. It just goes black. Then after about 5 minutes it restarts. It's very bizarre and me no likey. Anyone have this problem or know what I should do?

oh well. it's just a nuisance, nothing more. Hopefully with an update things like that will go away. It's not hardware right?

Recently on Folding I just finished a work unit, and an error message keeps popping up saying "Upload to server failed." Has anybody else experienced this? Will it eventually upload my work unit so I can continue with a next unit? Maybe the Stanford servers are just down because my connection is fine.

I had the same problem trying to upload a work unit to.

A question I have is for the blu-ray.com team do units worked with only the ps3 count? I set up the fold@home client on my mac and let it run all weekend and my score never changed.

You can have any device count toward your Blu-ray.com team account. You can use a MAc, a PC, a PS3, anything that F@H supports. Just type in our group ID number when asked and your screen name. It adds all the processors under one screen name but they won't show up until they finish processing 1 protein. It took a long time for my pc and my mac to show up, but eventually they did.

BTW... Be sure you sign up with Folding@Home! Its free and easy and does not hurt your system. I run it all the time with no problems.
It is a great program and it is for a good cause!

Awesome. I'll just restart folding on my mac when I get home then.

Thanks CptGreedle.

I've folded 3 nights in a row and I know I've completed units but it dfoesn't say that I have any units yet. Whats up with that, do I need to be part of a team for the units to collect?
