Default Folding@Home How often?

I was just wondering how often do you guys fold at home? I plan on making it a point to do at least 2 work units every month from now on.

That sounds like a good idea. I usually just run it about once a week. Maybe If I set a goal like that I can at least do something "productive" with it.

Default depends

it depends on if I work the next day or not. Since I work 24 hour shifts I ussually try to fold overnight 1 out of 3 nights.

Mine runs constantly, although I did turn it off for a day because of bad storms here in Houston.

Me too. Except when we watch movies (which is often) I've had our PS3 folding 24/7 since the firmware update (1.60?) that allowed it for PS3s. It hasn't hurt the PS3 at all. Registered as BradleyStorm on the Blu-ray.com team (team # 56895). So yes, turn on folding as often as you feel comfortable doing it. It's certainly for a good cause.

I turn my off for 2 reasons.
1) I don't want to tempt fate and have it crash or overheat on me. I doubt this will happen so it isn't a major concern.
2) I don't leave any electronics on when I'm not there, to save energy. This both helps save money and also (for all those going green) helps a little toward less pollution.

But maybe I'll try leaving it on sometime and see how it goes.

Being that is uses about the same wattage as my desktop, I usually leave it in hibernate while the ps3 is on. If I need it for awhile, I do cut the ps3 off.

I FOLD@HOME constantly. I usually restart the system once every couple of days to eliminate any lag in the process due to any memory allocation though. For the last month I have been trying to get through about 15 seasons of TV on DVD, so it has been running for about 5 weeks straight... NON STOP! I've climbed about 45 spots on the PS3 team leaderboard!

P.S. In the meantime, I've been using my HD-DVD player for the DVD playback. It still upscales the image so I get the same results. This way the damn thing isn't collecting dust AND the PS3 is running to benefit the medical sciences for the improvement of humankind! So, it appears in my case that the HD-DVD player was only a 98% waste of money!!! LOL

I use my Sony upscaling DVD player for my DVDs for the same reason. The PS3 spends its time folding while I watch my upscaled SD.

I've been letting mine run all night, every night for the past month. I'm up to 35 work units.

Same here. Ample proof of the amazing reliability of the PS/3, wouldn't you say?

300+ WU here.

Always on. When I'm not playing games or watching blu-rays that is. It surely looks reliable enough to be on 24/7.

Default Wow

I am surprised how many people leave their PS3s 24/7 folding, without managing to burn their house down.

I am now actually thinking about buying a used 20 gig PS3 on ebay and using that to fold forever. That could be my $300 dollar donation to charity for the year (plus electircal bill). At least then I am sure its going to a good cause as opposed to the pockets of charity leaders.

Forgive me for being ignorant, but what is folding? I clicked on it assuming people were talking about folding their clothes or something as was about to tell them that they're in the wrong thread.

I try to let my computer fold 24/7 exept it folds a couple work units then gets in a loop where it starts downloading then says waiting for retry. It seems to do this for a couple days then does a couple more work units. Over all it seem to spend more time waiting for downloads as it does folding. I have a 3Mb/sec connection to the internet. That should be an issue so I am not sure what causes this.
What is the score devrived from? Looks like most people with the same number of work units as me have a lot higher score:
