Team MacOSX specializes in this soft of thing. Lots of good Mac related info at their forum.

Turning off boxes just because its 100 degrees out. I leave you guys alone for a couple days and look what happens.

You guys are starting to sound like those guys at overclockers.com. Tornado this, heat wave that.

Hehe, we are in full Summer weather here now. The sun hardly goes down at all and the temps are in the 60's

Anchorage does get some days close to 80 and you can travel (North oddly enough) to get some better weather. I'll be headed out on a fishing trip this weekend to a place I know about 4 hours North of here that hopefully will be in the mid to high 80's. Sorry to hear about you guys heat probs

I'm considering moving back to Texas by next Summer, so I'll probably be having some problems myself.

Heh... actually my heater is on while I'm writing this. Do not have A/C in my house. Grew up in Houston, moved for a reason (sorry Reider ) High temp has been 59 or lower the last few days and I'm pretty far south of Alaska...
FOLD ON!!!!

I started with my PS3, but added my Powermac and my laptop to the mix. Seems the PS3 is still the superpower in the folding arena. I hope we're able to get something good done here.

Don't know if you guys have seen it yet, but the GPU client for NVidia cards is now out. Any card supporting CUDA can run.

Default Folding@Home closes much slowly after FW2.36?

I just noticed that whenever I want to close down the Folding@Home app to start a game or some other activity on my 60GB PS3, that the system takes up to a minute or more to start closing down the program. I see the HD is being accessed from the HD light as its closing, but has anyone else noticed this since updating to Firmware 2.36? I mean, its not a major catastrophe or anything but I miss the quick exit that Folding@Home used to do pre-FW 2.36

I have the same problem, and the earth is spinning in the wrong direction really fast.

Folding@home is a distributed computing project -- people from throughout the world download and run software to band together to make one of the largest supercomputers in the world. Every computer takes the project closer to our goals. Folding@home uses novel computational methods coupled to distributed computing, to simulate problems millions of times more challenging than previously achieved.
Quote:
What does Folding@Home do? Folding@Home is a distributed computing project which studies protein folding, misfolding, aggregation, and related diseases. We use novel computational methods and large scale distributed computing, to simulate timescales thousands to millions of times longer than previously achieved. This has allowed us to simulate folding for the first time, and to now direct our approach to examine folding related disease.
