I have been pretty active on the Folding@Home with my PS3 (CptGreedle), but I find that after doing all these processes, and getting up in the ranks above 50, suddenly I found someone who has only finished 12 processes and is above me! I don't understand how this works at all! How can they only have 12 and yet be so far up on the ranking?!

Some are worth more than others. They may be using a PC and doing some huge packets.

For those of you that has participated in the folding@home project, you should be proud because you helped made this possible:
"The recent inclusion of PS3 as part of the Folding@home program has afforded our research group with computing power that goes far beyond what we initially hoped," said Vijay Pande, Associate Professor of Chemistry at Stanford University and Folding@home project lead. "Thanks to PS3, we are now essentially able to fast-forward several aspects of our research by a decade, which will greatly help us make more discoveries and advancements in our studies of several different diseases." "When we introduced PS3, we knew its incredible processing power would allow for a great deal of innovation and creativity," said Jack Tretton, president and CEO of SCEA. "It's extremely rewarding to see that the scientific community has found a way to harness PS3 technology for humanitarian purposes and we continue to be amazed at what gamers and the Folding@home community have been able to accomplish in such a short amount of time." Original article: http://www.dailytech.com/PlayStation...rticle9000.htm If you have a PS3 but haven't already, do sign up as part of the blu-ray.com group. It just make winning the final blu-ray war so much sweater! |

Just for fun I took a two day sample of all team scores and then calculated the speed at which each team is increasing their scores. We're currently ranked 101 (ignoring the default team) of all teams in speed with +30638 per day, so it's only a matter of time until we should achieve top 100. However, as we get more people to join our team the sky is the limit

WOW people! When I started my machine folding we were something like #699 and I think I was the 69th person to join the team. Now we are #256 and have 153 members with points! Nice work!!

I joined the Bluray.com group about a two months ago. However, I only realized a month ago I had to activate the folding program when I was done with the PS3 to get it to work. Currently I am at 64 processes and counting. It adds up pretty quick since I usually only have time to use it on weekends.

I left my PS3 on last night and today to do some more folding.
You'll see me on the list as Jim_L. It is a neat program. I like the sound and visuals, but I especially like that it's helping medical research. |

I would be interested in knowing how many users we gain over some period of time. Personally, I have been averaging two units a day ~16 hours and have moved up from 100th to about 50th on the team. My goal is top 5 by then end of the year so I have started using my second console during the day when I am at work.
As a side note, one of my PSN friends asked, "What is folding@home?" as he saw that most of the time that is what my PS3 shows me doing. This was a great opportunity to get the word out about this. I am surprised more of my PSN friends are not doing this. |
