It would be really nice if it were a sticky in all main categories!

I think asking for a link to it on blu-ray.com main page would be a little much (so I don't dare ask that!)

I'll post a forum-wide announcement starting Sunday March 30th running through to Tuesday April 8th unless anyone's got a better idea?

That would be a great start. Anyone else care to expand on this idea?

And think this one specifically has a thread of its own: http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1397

My favorite potential updates in the list:
1) the ability to show the CPU temperature (so I can shut it down if it is overheating - think several other people in this forum could benefit from that)
2) to be managed by utilities such as FAHMON http://fahmon.net/ so through a single interface I can manage the progress of all of my FAH clients
Good, I didn't know it was mentioned before. Of course people would fold more if it didn't have to be something they had to initiate. The PS3 is smart enough to turn on, complete a task, and turn off if it's told what to do beforehand. That way it would be transparent to the user and beneficial for Stanford. No one minds giving them a few cents of electricity a day for a good cause.

Glad to see we passed AVS!

There is something "fishy" about blu-ray.com F@H team...

I'm all for the idea.

...and now that I figured out that I could set the PS3 to auto-shutoff after completing a work unit, I have it do one every night. Weird though, took a complete reinstall of the software before it started counting my WUs.

I'm not noticing this... of course it can take a couple of hours for the points to show up after submission. You could try correlating the last packet you sent to the server that received it (you can get the last work unit number and server it was sent to from your smp client logs) and see if there is a localized outage. There are many different servers that receive/process smp units, maybe there is an issue with the one that processed your last work unit: http://fah-web.stanford.edu/serverstat.html

Generally I've seen that if you have completed a packet and it was sent back to the FAH servers successfully, as long as you met the time requirements it will be counted eventually.

You can see the active projects and time deadline for each work unit here: http://fah-web.stanford.edu/psummary.html

Default All I know is...

I'm getting close to the top 25!

If you own a PS3, this is a worthy cause and you ought to check it out.

Peace.

how in the world are some of you producing 6,000 points a day? It has taken me almost a week to get that running my PS3, my overclocked desktop at home, and my work laptop 24/7. My laptop sucks (2.ghz Core 2 Duo) but my pc and ps3 are kickin butt but still not coming anywhere near what the leaders are doing.

If you look at the last few pages in this forum you'll see posts from Iceman and I that describe the configurations that we are using. The short answer is we are using multiple smp clients in addition to our PS3s.

I'd repeat the details but 1) I'm feeling lazy this morning and 2) I really should stop reading these forums and work sometime today...

I figured out what the issue was...old WUs

I had 5-6 day old WUs that my machine was working on...all of a sudden from Sunday on I was not getting SMP credits.

I think the Cobian back-up was working the opposite of how I wanted.
I dumped the WUs and uninstalled and deleted the SMP client and reinstalled.

Should be delivering SMP WUs again in 15-16 hours.

BTW, I have overclocked my Q6600 to 3.003 (from 2.4) and am running right around 60°C on air...seems to be on the high end of where I should be but the cut-off on this processor is 100°C.
I installed 4 - 140mm fans to keep it cooler. My wife isn't happy about the noise or the heat but it is still winter!!

To get some of the points I am getting, I have my quad core OC'd machine turning in about 1750 points every 16 hours or so (every other day I get credit for 2 units), my PS3 churning out 250 point units every 6-8 hours, a laptop running a AMD 3400+ turning out some points and my work PC is running the client completing about 1500 steps an hour in my work time but 1500 steps every 10 minutes or so in my away time.

I'm tunring in close to 3000 points a day on average.

I have my E8400 O'C to 4.0ghz with a Antec Nine Hundred case and at full load it only goes up to 45C ....plus it is whisper quiet even though it has 5 120mm fans and one 200mm fan running

Wow, I truly think I don't have my heatsink/fan seated properly on the CPU...using a AC Freezer Pro 7 (92mm)

Need to find my Artic Silver and get out the denatured alcohol from the shed

I am using a Cooler Master CM690 in a desk that doesn't give it a whole lot of room to breath.

I appologize if this has already been covered and hammered to death... I just got my first PS3 two weeks ago... I do want to participate in F@H but I actually stumbled on a new 60 Gig and picked it up... I know this system is a rare find and its actually the one that I really wanted too for its PS2 compatiblity... So my concern is since its not easily replaced if something does go wrong I'm worred about wear and tear that constant use while doing F@H would cause...

I'm more than happy to use my PC for F@H, don't know if I can still join the Blu Group since I'd be using a PC... I think if/when I ever get a 20 or 40 gig PS3 I'll happily leave that one on all the time for F@H... But with this I'm just not so sure...

Any advice anyone???
