Now here's something that's really strange. I also would have thought that 4 X 1GB sticks would be cheaper than 2 X 2GB but check this out:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145179

and it's out of stock longer than the 2GB sticks are. If they are really going to have it back in stock on 4/11 then I think I'm going to go for it. Will call them tomorrow and ask about it.
I don't know how much OC and heavy gaming you actually plan on doing, but seams to me that the modules you are looking at are overkill, especially if mostly for for folding. I recommend these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148183

Much cheaper, great latencies, can easily OC to 1066MHz with 5-5-5-15 timings if needed. I have this set with Q6600 @ 3.33GHz.

I am running 4x1GB of the same RAM...hasn't given me one single issue since I installed it

Note - if you aren't running 64bit version of your OS, only 3.25GB will show up as the ram count...don't worry, not bad ram just limitation of Windows (BIOS shows 4096 for the ram on boot)

Sweet! My PS3 have been going nonstop except for one movie since I bought my PSP. FF7:CC is aiding in folding by keeping me off the PS3!

Congrats to all on making the Top 100

Also, I took the plunge this morning and ordered my Q6600. I went with the 1066 Corsair 4 X 1 GB memory since they had it in stock afterall, and there was a pretty good rebate on it as well. All 4 sticks for just under $100 after the rebate.

All told it was $787.95 for the CPU, mobo, 8800 video card, memory, Zalman cooler, and a tube of Arctic Silver. I'll get $130 back in rebates, so it really only cost about $650. Not bad at all and it's shipping from Newegg tomorrow. I should be putting it together over the weekend

Thanks for all the advice, and I'm sure that I'll have some more questions after I get my hands into everything.

I could have saved you $5.99...the Zalman cooler comes with decent thermal compound (brushes on)
when installing the cooler, go hear and click the "how to install" button http://www.zalman.co.kr/ENG/product/...ad.asp?idx=164

Nice, I think I am going to setup one of the servers in my office to fold all of the time... it's got dual quad-core 64-bit Xeons, so it should help a bit I think.
