498 of 70492 as of now.
Not too shabby I wish more people would fold when their PS3 is just sitting there doing nothing.
They should write a script into the OS that if a disc has been sitting there for something like 1 hour with no user input and not playing content that it will shut down the player & launch F@H. There's been tons of times I've come home and the BD/DVD was watched & forgotten about by a family member & it has sat 1/2 the day on the menu screen in a loop. That's valuable crunching time and a waste of electricity going down the drain!

Ahhh ...good to see this forum has a Folding@Home team. It's a worthy cause indeed

We have a team at my forum, The Convo Pit Sheep Protein Folding Team, and I currently have 9 cores Folding 24/7:

Current main machine: QX6700 Core 2 Extreme Quad - 4 cores
FTP/backup machine - Sony 2.8 GHz P4 1MB L2 HT - 2 cores
Wife's desktop: Athlon 64 X2 4200+ - 2 cores
Old laptop - 1GHz P3 - 1 core

Doesn't anybody think it's weird that we're moving up the ranks so fast? What are the other teams doing?

There are a lot of teams who have contributors for awhile. Then they lose interest and move on. I suspect many teams have this problem. People don't realize that folding doesn't impact your PC's performance - it's set to the lowest priority.

We've got several team members who are MIA - they folded a few work units, then shut it down and disappeared

BTW, I highly recommend installing it as a service rather than a GUI, if you're running Win2K, XP or VIsta, that is. It's cleaner and faster. You can then use Electron Microscope III to monitor your progress.

If you're unsure how to do that, PM me and I'll send you a step-by-step

I've read that the PS3 Cell processor has 20 times the processing power as the typical current PC. So we have a little bit of advantage. It would be nice to get more Blu-ray fans to sign up as members and get into the top 100.

I just started it up last night (and joined the blu-ray.com team of course). Folding as we speak.

Welcome Y3k. I see you've already made the list. I'm BradleyStorm on the Blu-ray.com folding@home team and been folding 24/7 with no problems. It's nice to make a contribution to curing various diseases without having to even think about it.

Last I looked we were up to 454. The only issue I have come across from folding is that I almost feel guilty when I stop it so I can play!

Signed up yesterday and got a couple of work units churned out.
Truth be told though, I couldn't stand having the PS3 guzzling up 200 watts of power for half a day everyday.
Maybe churn out a couple of units every fortnight to a month me thinks.

Here is a site for those who are curious about other teams and how the team does hourly, daily, and weekly.

You and the other members have gotten the Blu-ray.com team up to 405th of 73,127 teams. Good work. Let's all keep it up and we invite all folks who love Blu-ray to join the team.
