That's not a lot, but you're helping Standford University get just a little bit closer to acheving their goals. It's up to every owner on how long folding@home is run on their ps3.

i hardly run F@H on my PS3 anymore, but i've recently started running it on my PC at work. thanks to nVidia's PhysX drivers and Stanford's high performance GPU2 F@H software i can punch out 2-3 WU/day and not have my electric bill bite me.

Again I say, it's not about who has it first, it's about what become of it.

Just look at internet search engine, does it matter which one came first out of the box?
It's about what become of that search engine later on.

The later may be better than the previous, and so forth.

People need to get over the "so and so did it first!" mentality. Its who does it BEST that counts.

History is filled with great products but very few were first designed by the people that made them popular. They just did it better than the originators.

Agreed. Just because the wii offers news and weather is no reason to say Life is just a rip off.

Agreed besides for me I don't have a wii never plan on having one unless I have a kid and 5 years from now he/she want one for their bedroom. So I would love to have this functuality available for the playstation.

Yeah and to some of us weather and news is quite useful. Im a college guy and keeping up with current events is important to me. If its not important than dont use Life but seriously Ive seen people complain about it. How can you complain about an extra service coming to the PS3? If you have absolutely no use for it then thats your business, but some of us I think will enjoy it. Its nice to have the PS3 become the central hub for all things media in our lives.

Well said mate!

I agree! I will for one, will find it very useful. I have a PS3 upstairs in the Main living room and one in my Bedroom. I always surf google news etc... on my PS3 so LWP will be a fantastic addition to me

And if I can fold at the same time then it really is all good!

To bad we were told we would be approaching that world at the end of the last light year.

Yeah LOL. Im getting pretty edgy. Its already the 21st where I am and they said august. You think by now they would be able to say its coming out the last week of august or something but there has been no word on it at all since july 31st which was "august." By now you think they would of told us some ballpark figure.

That's the stuff that 90%+ people are interested in (news, weather).
Now what I could see happening would be "extra" stuff that would be on a sub basis, like instant Stock option worldwide following, sports related stuff, that kind of things.

It is also possible that Life will get payed via linking to services. Say you click a country on the world 3D Map and select "I want to travel there", it will show you pics (VR?) of the places, and the possibility to reserve plane tickets and accomodations (link to expedia / hotels.com anyone?).
if we want the weather. either look outside. or, just turn on your local news/weather channel.

Who cares what -you- want? Many will use these kind of functions, and that potential was apparently enough for Sony to develop "Life"
