It sounds cool but not cool enough for me to really fret over it. With 5 days left (I count today since its early yet) in the month I'm sure we'll hear something pretty darn quick. Who knows, maybe they're saving it for the store update.

Anyshoot,

When it comes out I'll be like "Woah" and then go back to playing games.

OMG! i always heard about Life but i never knew what people were talking about till right now.... wow, i'm excited but i also have patience. This is another thing i can just add to me debate with my friends on how the PS3 is better than the 360.

I don't know how much info is out there but you can choose ANY city for news? Would you browse the different news stories or would it be only the top stories?

All we know is that its weather and news. The specifics haven't really been stated. I would assume all major cities should be accessible. Beyond that who knows. We don't even know if Life will be downloadable from the PS store or if it will come in an update. Well have to wait and see.

I'm guessing that it'll be a mandatory update through Folding@Home and then you can purchase additional stuff through the PSN Store.

Only so everyone will have it that may not know about this service and it'll be additional way of advertising the services people may want to purchase.

wise man.. and Thursday officially starts at 12:00 am... If you look at some of the update history.. some updates have gone live late late Wednesday..the major ones anyways.

Forgot 12am dependant on your timezone.. so some may have to wait..

Did you by chance hear if Stanford wiped out all of the resulting work that he did, or just zero out his points? Although using points to 'compete' can be fun, at the end of the day it is about the research... or in other words, if they can trace some breakthrough to the research based on the results that user produced, I wonder if they will come back later and say it was his 'insight' into loading it into a torrent/getting it on as many machines as possible to help humanity overall.

Don't get me wrong, I completely agree that one should never fold on a machine without permission. Just wanted to point out that if Stanford didn't purge his results, they (and hopefully humanity after all) still benefited from that user's actions.

I seriously doubt that they would disregard the results and rework the units. And as we later in the day found out, it was two users who got wiped, not just one. One was sending out something on bittorrent that would cause peoples machines to fold under his name, the other one was something to do with a former employer complaining to Stanford.

The point is not just the points lost by the zeroing. This kind of thing gives Folding@Home (and every other DC project is guilty by association) a real black eye. Any bad press like that could end up costing the project participants.

But on a more humorous note, have you ever seen what an update of negative 12million does to your team's 7 day average? We suddenly have over 10 teams that have a listed overtake on us.

Why would it be through folding? Because folding has a globe? I would highly doubt its through folding. At the demo there was no folding whatsoever. Its a service thats on the PSN. Its completely seperate from folding at home.

Looks like there's folding going on there.

There's been no indication of whether the standalone folding@home app would be phased out however.

Under all the music controls it says Folding@home 65% with a circular-dot in progress graphic like the one used in the current Folding@home app.
