Furthermore imagine if everybody adopted your refusal to contribute because it hasn't produced anything substantial yet. Then yeah, nothing will be accomplished.

Finally as the other poster stated you'll only get +$20 to your bill only if you run it for a whole month 24/7. And you yourself probably won't have to pay that much in Oklahoma. Check out the article by IGN about the cost of Folding:

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/776/776347p1.html

Looks like its $7.89 for you in Oklahoma running 24/7 for a month. One or two WUs a week, at about 18 hours running time per week, won't hurt would it?

But hey if you just prefer to support a different cause like you local hospital, that's cool and I respect that.
I still fold pretty often- just not as much as I use to. (I've got over 150k points and 600 WU's on my PS3)

It's not the electric bill that I'm concerned about. But the wear on the console and the heat it puts out. My gaming room is above a garage with almost no insulation. The average temp is about 90˚ in there - keeping the PS3 on just makes it worse.

I also fold on my desktop, quite a bit, but I fold for my school team. I'm not too much of a selfish ass.

That would make you a person with pretty bad luck.

Why would you pay above cost for another PS3? The price has been $400 or $500 since before the launch PS3 warranty went out. Plus, I don't know of any place in the country with $100 tax on a $500 product (assuming that might be the route you're going). It just doesn't make sense to me unless you're in Europe.

I bought one PS3 in December of 06. It failed. I sent it to Sony and got a replacement for free, it was defective when I got it. Then I sent the replacement to Sony and they gave me a new one. It works.

LWP does need some work. I think that it'll be treated just like Home. It'll come out and then get updates over time. Maybe we'll hear how LWP will be expanded next month.

Reason being, I find the fact that I can't do Sh!t when F@H is running VERY annoying).

Give me some simple games to play at least while folding! Like Sudoku, Echochrome, frikken Yar's Revenge, Jumping Flash, Battle Arena To Shin Den, The original Wipeout - stuff that uses little CPU power compared to PS3 games so you can still use most of the power for folding... GIVE US SOME REAL GOODIES FOR LOANING YOU OUR MACHINES PEOPLE!!! Thank You.

I think the main "Goodie" is the satisfaction that comes with the knowledge of helping out with research against certain diseases.

If this is not enough then just let it run at night while you sleep and leave the daylight hours to gaming and watching BDs.

You could fold all night if you wanted to. I do find it annoying that you can't do much while folding, other then sending a text message. How would you load balance between watching a movie or playing a game while folding?

It seems about the only thing the PS3 can't do is cook and clean! PS3 is the single best piece of home theater equipment ever. Although you can't fully appriciate it without a HDTV and an HDMI receiver. Who cares if it can't bitstream the audio? Can Live Free or Die Hard sound any better? Probably not. I can't belive the 80 gig is only $400! Long live the PS3, and Vive le revolucion.

Does anyone want to guess what newer firmware updates could add by the end of this year?

I like LWP.. It's very nice to turn on and let run while I go about other stuff around the house and a nice talking piece when guests are over and/or there's nothing on cable. (I always found it odd anyways to go to someone's house for a "party" and everyone was just sitting around flipping channels)

I view it as a very informative screen saver that plays my tunes and cures cancer at the same time.

My only disappointment is that it has a tendency to crash and burn. Changing mood types can cause it to stall. When I try to quit LWP the PS3 does a reset (BEEP BEEP) and it takes forever to change music tracks. This is after it has been running for a little bit it seems or when I try to change tracks more than 4 or 5 times in a row one after another.

What the freakin' hell? It's not worth it if it's going to cause my PS3 to reset itself because it can't quit properly. If it's playing music from my HDD it could corrupt my tunes!

Before they add my city, I want them to fix this mess.

It's probably been asked before, but I am absolutely unable to change the "moods", they are all greyed out and only "recommended" and the same tune plays over and over. I can play other playlists, but how do you use the moods... Any trick?

You need music with genres on the HDD.

I've had no crashes using or shutting down from LwP.

I just figured this was part of the "shut down process". When I quit LwP, my PS3 does a total reset, shuts down, beeps and then restarts.

Is that not the "normal" process? I would rather it simply exit to my XMB like it used to.
