I use to leave mine running 24/7. It should be fine if you got it in a well ventilated area. If it doesn't have good airflow, I don't think I'd do that though.

when ps3 is off or standby mode, folding@home stops where you left off and does not continue until you turn the ps3 back on and go back to folding@home. its easier to just let it go on the timer and it will fold until the timer runs out and remember where you left off and then it automatically turns off into standby mode or you can make it so that it automatically turns your ps3 into standby mode after the current work unit has finished

The new $399 80GB unit seems to run both quietly and cool.
I left it on all night, not particularly well ventilated, the entire unit was cool to the touch in the morning.

Default Music?

Hi,

I just checked out LwP and I like it but the music settings throw me for a loop. I need to get rid of the default music and tell it somehow about all the tunes I have on the hard drive but I didn't rip them from CD's directly... I imported them from a DVD full of MP3's instead.

Can I edit the "mood" of music files on my Hard Drive?

Hey,

In the moods ... custom isn't an option.

You can choose a song but having to sit through the music it loads and then having to choose a song each time I start the app is weak to say the least.

Hopefully,.. they will improve the music selection aspect of LwP.

LWP does need work. We need to get Sony to start working on a update for LWP.

Double-tap SQUARE to bring up the music controls/folding progress.

It would be cool if you could zoom in real time and see LIVE life.. cars.. people in public areas.. not that our government doesn't do it already but it still would be freakish..

I think Shin-ra made a good point earlier when people were talking about google maps , about how the overall look of it wouldn't be as nice and crisp as it is now.

I'm sure that the ps3 hardware could do that. How many times per second would everything be updated?

It would be a nice concept, but realize how much privacy invasion would occur as a result of this idea. I'm sorry, but I personally don't care for someone I may have pissed off looking in on where I live and seeing what I'm doing on a minute-to-minute basis. If the government's doing it, hey, just another evil to chalk up for them and my taxpayer money but let's please leave it out of the public's hands

I don't think that it would be a good idea either. I'd like to see more cities added to the list and some kind of 3D option.

Why I said it would be freakish, but man the technology is there. How about not having it in real time but just showing a Google Earth type function.

Basically right now Life with Playstation is boring.. the concept is there but Sony could hit a homerun if utilized correctly.

I have been running folding@home for some time now. Lately I have checked on my status. The number of work units is at 2, although it should be more. It's as if the work unit is send back to the university, yet the number of work units doesn't go up. Strange, unless I'm missing something.
