The Eerie Midnight Horror Show is one schizophrenic film. The scenes involving the devil are unhinged and worth the price of admission. As are a few other scenes. But any scene not involving the main actress or involving her and her boyfriend, were boring and just felt like filler.... .

The intermission film commercials are for Chaos and Bloodthirsty Butchers. Concession commercials follow these and feature some of the worst looking burgers and hot dogs on film...

Of course, being part of the drive-in series the film itself often looks pretty bad and seems to be missing parts.

The House That Vanishes looks even worse and seems to be cut to pieces... It seemed like a decent atmospheric horror film, not a top Larraz film. Of course a good transfer of a complete version just might elevate this film, as it shares elements with Symptoms and Vampyres as well as plenty of nods to the giallo films.
This was one of the early Dark Force drive-in series when the company started in 2018 that garnered a lot of controversy. Being a nostalgic drive-in series, the transfer done on HOUSE THAT VANISHED was from a US 35mm print that actually played in US drive-ins mostly as a 3rd co-hit. Although it did contain violence and nudity it was cut down probably for time reasons from the uncut UK version. Although Dark Force has progressed light years since these early releases we still today would have used a US theatrical version of HOUSE THAT VANISHED if included in the drive-in series as opposed to the uncut UK one just to remain accurate. Now we would use the UK version for a single's edition release if we are ever able to get our demonic hands on some good master elements. Dark Force 666

Store is open people. The Banker is available for non-subscribers. Death Rage is back in stock. And there are a couple new Blu-ray packs. One pack with both of those movies, and another pack with both of those + Yeti.

I got my order in last week when the bundles went up. Now the wait for the next bunch of announced titles. Glad Death Rage came back and Yeti has been high on my wantlist since it was announced.

A stand-alone uncut release of The House that Vanished would be great!

Time vs money and the possibility of selling out.

You could always subscribe and get a slight discount.

If you want titles as released you should subscribe to the dark force club and you'll save $10-$15 per title

Otherwise have to wait a couple months and hope the right bundle of titles you want comes up, but even then probably more expensive than the club.

Slips aside, has anything from DF actually sold out yet? I remember the hype of The Last Victim selling out quickly and yet it's still there, at a discount no less, a year later...

Is the Teenage Hitchhikers blu ray that's up on Amazon the same as the one in the DF store?

I figured I might as well go ahead with the drive-in series and watch #4 tonight.

While it is full of screen artifacts, the transfer is largely good, a few scenes were a bit darker than probably intended. So Sad About Gloria is a fun slow-burn, psychological, proto-slasher rounded with sprinklings of hallucinatory and atmospheric imagery. Literary references and philosophical debates round out much of the dialogue (who knew a tree would be an important plot piece in an exploitation film?) . If you enjoy weird proto-slashers along the lines of Axe you should enjoy this film; though this has a pretty long love story sandwiched in between the crazy parts.

Fun fact, the lead actress was in Green Acres, perhaps this is why this film got paired with it's feature on this disc?

This time we get trailers for Mark of the Devil and Don't Look in the Basement in between films.

God's Bloody Acre is another one of those "true story" films...
Once again, the main feature uses elements in far worse shape than the first film, as to why, I cannot speak.

A dad and his two sons are tired of moving around in the forest for new parks and take matters into their own hands... They meet a craggy RV couple, a hitchhiking former office worker (who quits in a fantastic acid inspired flashback), and a girl who wants more than sex (her flashback is more mean spirited and even brings in some nudity).

Strange characters, roadside muggings, lovemaking in a pond with folk music playing, the inevitable rape scene, revenge and more. This low budget film hits on all the tropes in such an unconvincing manner that I wasn't sure if I should laugh or cry half the time...

So Sad about Gloria really surprised me with it's quality on the old Code Red DVD double feature. It's a decent movie.
