On a small release like that we would rather pull the whole thing or leave it as is. Since it had a very nice and expensive slipcover it wasn't even supposed to have and the printing defect on the wrap isn't a very big deal to the overall release, we decided to just leave it. If there were to be a big deal made over it, we would have to immediately pull the release.
Its not a huge deal cuz TBH the messed up printing on the front actually makes the cover art look more exciting, it almost looks intentional

It would be cool if you could post a high-resolution image (300dpi) that had the full original sleeve as intended so people could print a fixed one themselves if they wanted to, though probably would have to check with artist. that way if people cared they could just reprint a copy.

@DemonDave what elements were used for the 4ks of Death Ship and Terror Train? And do they have Astral Films logos up front or Avco Embassy and United Artists respectively like the prior releases?

That was the thing, the front actually did end up looking better which made it go more unnoticeable. I can check and see regarding the high-resolution image but altering a Dark Force release from its original form could be sacrilegious. Sometimes the flaws in these releases is what makes them special and perhaps unique, Ruined.

It would only be original negative elements on both. Those will be two very big releases so like the upcoming Mirror Mirror 4K a lot of things are being lined up.

It's great that DF is continuing Code Red's (and Scorpion's) legacy in a way by picking up some of their titles and giving them 4K revamps. I just hope they don't get too smitten with karate flicks since everyone and their mothers are already up to their eyeballs with it. Between CR and Scorpion there's a ton of titles that need upgrades. Hopefully Savage Streets and Sweet Sixteen are on the horizon.

Keep the Mark L. Lester titles coming! I hope he can help you find elements for more of his post-Night of the Running Man output. You guys seem to get along well in the interview segments.

Different strokes for different folks I suppose

Thanks Wackotaco, the recent three we released are extremely obscure and definitely not your run-of-the-mill martial arts films. They are all shot in cinemascope in Hong Kong with better than usual elements for these kind of movies. They usually do quite well so we will always get them when we can.

Shadow Fist Hunter and Deadly Kung Fu Factor were both awesome! What was the third one? I'll have to pick that one up whenever I make my next purchase.

Agree, I just finished Deadly KF Factor, and though I felt it was a bit lite on the Deadly Kung-Fu, it was not your typical martial arts film. I figure the third is the Golden Triangle.

So just saw on FB that the upcoming release of The Golden Triangle will not have the original audio, but a mix of English and Italian audio and currently unknown if the Italian audio will be subtitled. I can sometimes watch a HK film in English, but Italian seems too far gone for me. So in regard to this release, I'm out.

Come on you guys, are you kidding me! You know how rare this movie is? And its awesome, huge battle scenes, go look at the clips we posted on Facebook. There were literally a few missing spots of the english audio because we found the most uncut version out there. So maybe a few lines of Italian that doesn't even need interpretation. The alternative would have been we could have cut the scenes out. But if it's that big of a problem we will cancel your pre-order and refund you back the money. This title like all the other rare martial arts films we have been releasing will sell out fast regardless.

And in the future if you are looking for perfection do not order titles like this. This movie there was barely any remnants of the ancient VHS release which was cut. Never had any kind of further home video release and the surviving film elements on this thing was like discovering a lost treasure. Everyone that loved SHADOW FIST HUNTER and DEADLY KUNG FU FACTOR will definitely love this one too. But you want perfect releases go buy the new studio crap or something like MIRROR MIRROR 4K release which is about the closest Dark Force will get to perfection. So now you are unstuck. We will refund you for The Golden Triangle. We don't want you to have to hear a couple lines of Italian and ruin the movie. lol

There's always something to complain about. Earlier it was that a movie had missing scenes. Now it's that a movie is complete but doesn't have the wanted dialect. There is no way to please everyone.

This doesn't bother me personally, I'm happy to get what's available for The Golden Triangle. I have it pre-ordered and I remain happy with that.

I do think it's fair to want known, significant source-related anomalies noted at the time the item goes up for purchase though. I think most people are understanding of that with this type of movie, but people generally don't like to be surprised with stuff like that after a disc arrives.

A few sales to pickier people might be lost, but also complaints from a lot of people who wouldn't have cared if it had just been noted upfront would be avoided. Cheers to Dave for at least being honest about it right away when asked and not ignoring the questions.

We also just spent time defending the Drive-In line as the place for stuff with source issues, so it's somewhat reasonable for people who just read all that recently to expect this non-drive-in release to be more free from that.

Anyways, I don't mean to sound too negative. I'm really looking forward the release and glad it's getting out there in whatever form possible. Just also think the people being caught off guard maybe aren't being entirely unreasonable this time.
