The exact same thing happened to a friend of mine this morning. Spoiled the movie for him. If you haven't seen the film and don't want it spoiled for you, avoid social media, news sites and the internet in general like the plague!

I've seen a lot of people complain about seeing spoilers on Facebook and other social media, in commentary fields, etc. I guess it's a good idea to avoid such things at the moment if one has any interest in this movie.

Things to remember regarding Han Solo and Captain Phasma:

1. Harrison Ford probably did not want to be commited to another Star Wars film, even not wanting to be in one at all. So with a pretty good paycheck the filmmakers did the best they could for his character. What they did was better than recasting him and better than not having him appear. Furthermore, it's one of Harrison's best performances in years. So it's not like he "owes fans" to be in more films.
2. Captain Phasma was awesome for me because she was just like Boba Fett. What did Boba Fett do in the OT besides looking bad-ass? Nothing except stand around and go out like a biotch. They already did that with Phasma but she'll be in more movies unlike Boba Fett. Just be patient - just like the two Raid Indonesian dudes (the Guavians), Phasma, Snoke and Luke Skywalker - they all did nothing in this film but will do so in future films.

Also, anyone notice how the majority of the characters in the new lineup of Star Wars action figures did not appear in Force Awakens? They released figures for the upcoming films it seemed.

i have seen promotional material which were not included in the film

[Show spoiler]a car advert had a space battle dodging and weaving a star destroyer, and I swear I saw the Falcon flying around one as well. These of course were not linked in the main teasers and trailers..

a day later I have fond memories of the movie, especially its humour.

1)Two Storm Troopers decide it is wise to "not go there" as Kylo Ren packs another hissy fit and promptly turn around and walk away.

2) Finn's bravado about the resistance "yes, this is what we look like"

Finn: Just keep calm... Just keep calm...

Finn: I was talking to myself.

3) Rey: "you will drop your weapon"

Storm Trooper: "...and I will drop my weapon"

[Show spoiler]Loved these scenes also. Especially the hissy fit where the two stormtroopers do an abrupt about face and rapidly walk off in the opposite direction.

Bought back memories of Empire Strikes Back with Darth Vader terrorizing his troops and giving him nervous, sideways glances as he walks past.

Yeah, I wasn't really even reading anything about it, some friend of hers just posted "OMG ____ _____" and my wife commented on it, which made it show up on my thing. Annoying. That same friend spoiled Walking Dead for her too, though I don't care about that.

Seeing it tomorrow, very excited. One question for those who've seen it, something that's been in the rumor mill for a year... but I haven't seen anyone mention this since it came out:

[Show spoiler]Are there any "flashbacks" in the new film? I hope not; fingers crossed. Flashbacks have never been part of the STAR WARS style of storytelling.
