While I didn't get to see a 70mm or laser IMAX, I was impressed with that being the way I saw it the first time. The third time was at an Atmos theater.

I understood you, I just needed to stress my concerns that they may want to go down that road when it is completely unnecessary and possibly detrimental.

At the end of the day, these should be family movies. Too many scenes seemed too adult and some scenes were too childish. It needed a bit more balance and doesn't need to be more "serious" with the next installments. If anything, the sequels need to be a bit more lighthearted (but I'm doubting they will be based on how this ended).

So this is what desperation looks like. And in many ways I hate that I contributed to this film's box office. I wish I could turn back time and never give this a chance and listen to George Lucas' warning.

This was worse then the prequels. And I sincerely apologize to Lucas for every criticizing them in the way I did after seeing how bad it really can get. This is a big budget fan-made Star Wars film. The script of this film...did it even get a second pass? The amount of contrived moments littered throughout this soulless mess was shocking - especially for a film of this scale.

Can we get over that 90% of the plot is based around a stupid MacGuffin? Oh the writers really tried hard with this one. What a boring movie they wrote. Lame action, forced humor, nothing memorable. What a waste of everyone's time. Introduce a location, blow it up. Introduce a new location, blow it up. Yeah and the rebels only need a dozen fighters to take on this scary, cookie cutter 'order' or whatever they call it. At this point its a matter of respect, and the lack of it shown towards me from Hollywood has passed the breaking point. If these suits destroy Snyder's Batman v Superman, then that will be the end of it.

Dont get me started with the feminism garbage. At least try and be sincere. When you layer it on this thick its obvious your a puppet playing games. You dont care about women's rights, all you care about is public perception. And it shows in your pathetic attempts to 'empower' women. You think showing a woman over power men physically on multiple occassions empowers them? You make me sick Hollywood. You and all your publicity stunts dont fool me. No, not one single bit. Your gutter trash, and dont you ever pretend you arent.

[Show spoiler]Well, Hollywood got what they want. If this film bombed it would really hurt the only thing they care about, their pockets. All the needle brain critics who rated this high no they would be out of their dime a dozen jobs as well if the movie industry isnt healthy. So they inflated this hunk of lard into something its not. Im sure the suits who are rolling in cash at Disney appreciate it. Lucas had the appropriate term for them.

It makes you sick? Like you can't handle a woman holding a lightsaber without being physically ill?

While men are generally stronger than women a properly trained female combatant can kick some serious ass, even in real life. A well trained woman can take on a trained man with the right kind of physical moves. See Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation for a great, realistic portrayal of this.

Rey was obviously well trained even before the ending stuff, since she took on two men with her bo on Jakku.

Also the way you wrote this makes me sick so now we're both throwing up.

I kind of understand where he's coming from. Sometimes movies go really far with the idea that female empowerment = able to beat up guys, when it's far more than physical dominance. It's how women are portrayed in movies in general that's really demeaning (eye candy, love interest, etc).

However, Star Wars was actually one of the better depictions of women I've seen from a major Hollywood movie. Rey is never depicted sexually and she never needs a man to help her for being a stupid woman. The closest they came to making her weak was when she hysterically went running off in the woods, but I personally read it more as her being young and naive, not a stupid woman. I actually liked her character a lot, and while I'm 100% certain they only made the character a female to appeal to a different demographic and make more money, she was a refreshing character that I believe little girls will love and admire. That's an audience that is almost always forgotten and they need their heroes too. Hell, Rey was at least a better role model than bikini Leia and couch sitting Natalie Portman.

Lets remember that "Bikini Leia" was enslaved by a space worm and forced to wear the bikini and two scenes later MURDERED HIM with the CHAIN HE ENSLAVED HER WITH.

Its almost as though Lucas had some sort of metaphorical point to the bikini.

That's not the point. You would never see a speedo spouting Harrison Ford being held in chains and licked by a horny alien woman in these movies. It's sexist. Just because there's an excuse for it doesn't mean it needed to be there in the first place. It didn't further her character or the plot. It's only purpose and function was to serve as T&A.

And no, I'm not a prude. I thought the costume was sexy as hell. But if the idea of empowering women is having a half-naked woman strangling a slug alien with her chains, you kind of need to reevaluate.

Nothing about Carrie Fisher since the 80s could be mistaken as sexy,
[Show spoiler]Luke's daughter is definitely quite a looker though. Wonder who the mum is, guessing some variant of Mara Jade.

I personally am sick of the damsel in distress female roles in films, that's why Rey is such a refreshing character.

Finn is a bit of a bumbling idiot, I guess he's going to be the Jar Jar Binks of this trilogy.

You should definitely see Looper. One of the best of the past decade. One of my best moviegoing experiences, too. Knew next to nothing about the plot, other than Bruce Willis, time travel, and assassins. Went one afternoon, paid my eight bucks, and had the entire theater to myself. No talking, no texting, no kids running up the aisles... Just a 60 foot screen and a great movie. Bliss.
