The website cosmic book news has shared a few tidbits about the next Star Wars film.. This comes from a source that has been providing details on other projects like MAN OF STEEL.

One of the rumors that their source is providing is that:

"A Disciple of Emperor Palpatine aims to rebuild the Sith armies of the Old Republic and destroy the Jedi where the Skywalker children will be thrust into battle and face their inner demons of their Skywalker lineage"

Also the next film will be set 30yrs after EPISODE 6.

I am telling you all LUKE makes a great Dark Sith for crying out loud right now he looks like one.

I say Luke Vs. Lea (as leaders) and new cast battle it out.

Jump to 9

Luke and Leah kiss again end of third third.

Sounds good. I hope this new Sith is as bad ass looking as Maul was.

Ages ago, like back in the 80s ages ago, it was said the 7-9 (7 at the very least) were supposed to deal with the troubles of starting up a new government and the dangers of not getting sucked into going down unfortunate paths while trying to do things for the greater good and politically struggling to avoid being corrupted by the struggle to create and new Republic. Dangers of being good people trying to make something good but fighting to not end up doing evil from the best intentions, or things vaguely along those lines and not ending up slipping into becoming their own Empire. I think it said some of the original characters were to be involved quite a bit, certainly earlier on in 7-9 and some of their struggle with that.

It didn't seem to hint at the nonsense stuff from the comic books with every baddie from Boba Fett to the Emperor coming back. Hard to say but it didn't really seem to imply Luke going Sith for a while either.

Not much was said and it was vague but that is what I recall about the gist of it.

What was said back then about 1-3 actually matched a lot of what we saw. Despite the cries about how stupid politics and trade federations and such ruined 1-3 and if only they had used the original stories, well hate to say it folks but that stuff was in their back in the 80s.

It's probably in the bag but I bet he's under contractual obligations to not say anything. Disney wants to have a big press release announcing the return of the original cast.

As long as Han, Leia, and Luke aren't the MAIN characters then I am fine with that, I want the main focus to be on the new Skywalker teens.

Seems to me they would be much older than that. If the new events are to take place approx 30 years after the events of ROTJ. Surely they would not have waited 17 years before they had kids.

As long as its a great story, I don't care if Lando Calrissian is the main character.

I prefer the idea of Dark jedi rather than Sith, a direct example being the Dark Jedi from Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight featuring the superb villain Jerec played by Christopher Neame. The game featured the first live action photography filmed since Return Of The Jedi and followed Dark jedi trying to find an acient 'spring' or 'well' of jedi power. Great stuff.

But those beans have already spilled. All three are coming back, Lucas said he would leave it up to the actors to make their own announcement. But yeah, expect all three to stand together at some insane media event (Comic Con?)

Star Wars Celebration VII will be in Europe this July. Might do a big reveal of some kind there. I always go to these, they are definitely worth the trip every time no matter where they are held.

On that note, is it too much to hope for a Kyle Katarn appearance played by Captain Mal Reynolds (Nathan Fillion)?

[Show spoiler]I know it won't happen

I hope not. If Fillion was to appear I might actually have to watch the film.

Why did he create Anakin while training Maul? Why was he grooming Anakin while in league with Dooku? Vader's reduction to robot killing machine might have led Palpatine to start educating someone else, who then needed to create his own apprentice after Palpatine went reactor-diving. "Always two, there are..." blah blah blah.

Palpatine never had big plans for Maul or Dooku. Actually, Dooku was part of his plan with Anikan. Taking an innocent life is the last step to becoming Sith. He planned to make Luke kill Vader in a similar fashion. Always two there are, and The Phantom Menace book explains that if there are any more, it becomes a struggle for power. A Sith is destined to be killed by their apprentice, all they can hope to do is keep a constant flow of fresh apprentices, all hired after murdering the last one in cold blood.

Makes it hard to bring them back... does a Star Wars film in the Saga (not stand alone) need a Sith? Only time will tell...
