I hope JJ gives him a locked print so he can work his magic the way he did on the original films. Lucas had to write a lot of non-specific action music for the Prequels, because Lucas futzed with everything constantly.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say its unofficially in concrete. Williams stated a month or so ago that he wants to score the new trilogy. And I read something yesterday, can't remember where, that even Giacchino wants Williams to score Star Wars. Now with that statement from Abrams, all parties are in. Williams is more or less a lock.

Though it'd be interesting to get new composers in for the spin-off films. I'd love to hear what Michael Giacchino would do in this universe.

Unless he decides that he simply can't put in the required amount of dedication for this, which would be a perfectly valid excuse for a man as old as he. I want him to return, he's the lifeblood of the series to some extent, but I wouldn't be completely surprised if he didn't end up doing it for one reason or another.

We'll have to just wait for official word from Williams himself; everywhere is still reporting that Abrams wants him to return, so it seems to have not been confirmed or denied at this point.

You should have said Superman 2. Superman 4 actually had new music composed by Williams. It's the only Superman sequel to include that.

Its being shot in the UK most likely, Pinewood.

with Episode VII being shot in the U.K i can see this as a good omen and also the cast aren't trekking around the world to Australia.

I just hope that Jar Jar Binks returns. Would be nice to see how much he's aged since the events of Episodes 4-6 happened without him.

He died on Alderaan during the events of Episode 4 when Tarkin had the planet destroyed.
