For anybody who doesn't get it, go back a page or two and watch the Patton Oswalt video where he pitches his ideas for Episode VII.

edit: I'll save you the trouble. Here it is again for those who missed it:

It's supposed to be. It was something EW threw together based on Oswalt's Parks & Rec rant.

LMAO

I'm already getting goosebumps thinking about seeing Solo and Chewie interacting in a SW movie again! Unfortunately, if there's a moment of tension between the two, the only thing I'll be able to think is "you Wookie sack of shit!"

Yes, I understand the Fox and Sony Marvel properties are on there too but at least they are Marvel.

Why? Becaseu it is funny! Relax a little! It is a joke, you can't look at it so literally. Jokes don't need to lay in reality, it's fictional content, nothing literal about it.

If your point was just to show off your geek-knowledge, then good for you for knowing that.

Most peopele on this forum would have the same knowledge and those that didn't know that, don't care.

J. J. Abrams Says John Williams Will Return To Score Episode VII

Abrams saiys:
Quote:
Again, for Star Wars, it’s very early days, but I believe that, going forward, John Williams will be doing that film, because he was there long before I was.
A huge step in the right direction and really the only choice. I hope Williams is willing and able to score VII, VIII and IX.

Though it'd be interesting to get new composers in for the spin-off films. I'd love to hear what Michael Giacchino would do in this universe.

Is that the whole quote? The man sounds like he knows about as much as us regarding the whole situation

This is good news. John Williams is the jelly to Star Wars' peanut butter.

Peanut butter and Jam? Ew, that's disgusting! No-one in the UK adds jam to a peanut butter sandwich! And the news about Williams is singularly awesome! Really not a big fan of film franchises that re-use the scores to previous films, like the crapulent music for Superman 4 or Predators...

I couldn't imagine peanut butter and jam. I like both separately though.

Anyway, great news about John Williams, it just wouldn't be the same with a different composer, just like Halo 4 was different without Marty O'Donnell.

Alright then, how bout cheese whiz and peanut butter?

Joking aside I am glad John Williams is coming back for the score, he is a huge part of Star Wars.

I don't mean to put a downer on things, but this is far from confirmation that Williams is returning -- this is Abrams saying that he would like Williams to return and is hoping that he will.

I hope he does come back, but it's not set in concrete yet.

Although I'd like to see him return he'll be 84 then assuming he takes up the offer and it's anyone's guess as to whether he will be around to do the job. Even if they run a two yearly schedule for sequels he'd be 88 when scording the 9th film.

I don't have any ill will towards him but when you're mid 80's it's entirely possible it might happen. I'd almost want someone else to take the job who has reverence to the original material so they can create something that honours Williams work in the first six films and creates something new for Abrams' vision. That way this trilogy would have a coherent sonic approach.
