That Yoda allows himself to engage in a duel with Dooku was always seen by me as a failure on his part. The Jedi are not the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy by this point, they are pawns in Palpatine's plot. Anakin's fall is not the only tragedy in the prequels, the Jedi fall from grace as much as he did. Even when the Jedi appear to have succeeded in doing something in AOTC (as with Obi-wan tracking Jango to Kamino and then to Geonosis) they're actually being unwittingly led by the nose to assist in the start of The Clone Wars.

Ahhh, so all those toys that came out for A New Hope and The empire Strikes Back were for adults? God, I am so dumb.

So, let me get this right. Star Wars is for adults just as the Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon serials and films like Apocalypse Now and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre are for kids, yes? Thank you for your insight. You've just rewritten history.

I try to forget as much as I can from Episode II, there is actually about 10 more grammatical mistakes in that movie I just did not feel like typing them all out before bed so nice try.

You should come to Greenwich and watch a movie on a Saturday night with a proper South London crowd. Saw Fast and the Furious 6 with a packed house and it was beyond awesome, it was almost like audience participation at one point there was so much hootin' and a hollerin'.

Just because YOU'VE never experienced such things (do people even laugh when they watch comedies where you are? Just curious) doesn't mean no-else hasn't!

Oh good, more revisionism. So why did Lucas and Kersh consult child psychologists about the effect that the Vader reveal would have on kids? Why was producer Robert Watts quoted as calling Empire a "toy advert" when they were making it? Et cetera, et cetera...

It was one of the more depressing and embarrassing moments of Attack of the Clones for me...regardless of the opening night crowd screaming like howler monkeys.
I wrote a whole thing here about how that scene with Yoda was so illogical, but I deleted it because so much in all of these films, including the OT, makes no logical sense. So there's almost no point debating one scene, because the logical failures throughout all the films are massive.

The big question for me is whether Lucas purposely made the Jedi liars and failures, in order to make a comment about organized religion, or whether he didn't even realize that it turned out that way and he still thought that the Jedi were heroes. If it's the former, he's a bigger genius than normally given credit for and if it's the latter, then the story really doesn't work at all.

With the possible exception of Luke at the end of VI, just about everything the Jedi ever did was a complete failure and the only reason Luke was even needed was because of previous Jedi failures. If there was never a Jedi, there never would have been Anakin in a position to become Vader. Of course you could also argue that the Empire didn't even need Vader - they would have found another Sith if there had been no Vader. But if that's the case, then Vader wasn't important - he was just a pawn. When it comes down to it, the Jedi was Dr. Frankenstein and Anakin/Vader was the Frankenstein monster.

I would love it if Episode VII addressed some of these issues - perhaps Luke is in hiding somewhere because he realizes that the Jedi were fools, but I doubt that will be the case. Hopefully the new film has better internal logic than the originals did, especially the PT.

The display of power was awesome, and when Yoda ignited his lightsaber, it sent chills down my spine. I think it is just the way he flips around that makes it look comical. I understand that he's small and needs an alternate way of fighting, but to me (and a lot of others) it looked silly.

I was always under the impression before the prequels that Palpatine was always a sith lord and not a senator in disquise and Anakin became posessed by the spirit of Darth Vader an ancient sith.

My impression was always very limited, based mostly on the information directly provided in the OT. Everything mentioned by different characters about Anakin in those films was depicted accurately, so I was happy for the most part.

I just thought a more interesting story line would be Palpatine and Anakin find a Sith tomb and get posessed by the spirits of the long dead Siths and thats why they turned evil.

Star Wars was always about Special FX and daddy issues.

There's no where for it to go, but I hope I'm wrong.

Because personal agency and responsibility for one's actions is such a hindrance when it comes to dramatic storytelling.

Except for the part about Anakin hunting down and destroying the jedi, he just killed a few kids that I still dont get.
