I think they should release Episode VII in soundtrack-only form. Then there's no chance it would be a disappointment and they'd only have to pay John Williams.

Revenge of the Sith is a powerful film for me. Very dark and emotional, much more than Return of the Jedi. The only downside is the acting which is very important I have to admit, but other than that everything is just amazing. The cinematography is a bit grittier but beautiful, and the excellent music with more haunting cues than any other episodes. The editing was confident and skillful, and I think it represents the best directing work by George Lucas of all the prequels.

I agree on all points. And the lightsaber duels were incredible. Especially compared to Luke swinging his like a baseball bat in ROTJ. No matter what anyone says about the prequels, they gave us fantastic duels. Something I'm hoping to see in episode VII.

Um...yes. That is very important. Hell of a downside.

True, but fortunately only a few scenes, not enough to afftect the film as a whole. The same problem is in Return of the Jedi too.

Not as bad as in ROTS tho. I'm pretty sure all of Hayden's tears were digital or the product of saline solution.

Fortunetly most of Sith was action or visual spectacle - that's why it works as well as it does. Ian McDiarmid's long-awaited performance as The Emperor also helps a great deal.

Sith destroyed Vader man, it really did.

"A Young Jedi named Darth Vader helped the empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi.... Vader was seduced by the dark side of the force."

Vader killed a bunch of children and like 1 maybe 2 Jedi, the clones did all the killing of the Jedi. Was it a dark film sure, was it what had been played up since the beginning of Star Wars no, truthfully that movie could have been the darkest and and craziest of all the movies. It could have blown Empire out of the water, but it failed on so many levels with the wooden acting, and the piss poor dialogue. Hell the movie could have easily been a hard R had it been done right and really made up for all the mistakes that was AOTC.

An R rated Star Wars film seems a more than unlikely prospect and rather an unrealistic hope or expectation.

I hate to agree but I do. I dont see how the fall of Anakin Skywalker to the dark side of the force didn't go down in cinema history. I would have really loved for Sith to be Episode II. Have Anakin turn to Vader in Ep II and not put him in the Suit until III, during the purge. Just spitballin ideas here. I mean I enjoy the prequels, but I just think they all missed the mark on telling this EPIC story of Anakin Skywalkers, the most powerful jedi and hero of the Clone Wars, fall to the dark side of the force.
I do have to disagree with the R rating... not for a Star Wars movie. You can be dark and still be pg-13. Only movies with an R are gonna have excessive gore, nudity, and language (f bombs)... I dont think we will see any of that in Star Wars, nor does it need it.

Everyone hates on Hayden, but he's actually a good actor. He was just given a poor script and bad directions.

Check out his AOTC audition, he does a pretty good job.

Possible STAR WARS EPISODE VII: THE FORCE AWAKENS Teaser Trailer Description Sounds Epic

According to Badass Digest (who have been dropping a lot of scoops about Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens), the trailer for the highly anticipated movie is just weeks away. There's been talk of it being attached to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 or alongside The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, but another popular theory is that it will be released on ABC just like Avengers: Age of Ultron's first teaser was supposed to be. Though they don't seem entirely confident in their sources, here's what they've heard we'll see in the first Episode VII trailer.

[Show spoiler]
Quote:
"[It'll] be short. And when I say short, I mean one minute long. It's going to have The Force Theme played on woodwinds, softly, over flashing images of the main leads, each fading to black. There's no dialogue, just reveals of the characters. And then the music swells up into a full orchestral piece - perhaps what John Williams recorded this weekend? - and we hear a female voice, likely Daisy Ridley's, saying "Wake up." And then the title card appears - Star Wars: The Force Awakens - and we see the Millennium Falcon, firing blasters, coming right at the camera."
CBM

I spoiler tagged it for anyone who may just want to wait and see the teaser trailer without being spoiled, but I love the sound of it. It's just what it needs to be, and it's a great tease for what's to come. Next December can't get here soon enough! I don't think I've ever been this excited for a movie before.

Sounds a lot like the teaser for Attack of the Clones.

I was more excited for the Phantom Menace. And that movie is why I am keeping my enthusiasm in check.

Yeah, as many things that went wrong with the prequels, the score was NOT one of them! John Williams, as usual, brought his "A" game to that trilogy! The consumate professional!

True but the script didn't exactly help...

"You're SO beautiful"

"It's because I'm so in love"

"No, no it's because I'm so in love with you"

"So love had blinded you?"

Upon hearing this dialogue in the theater my first thought was....OK, now Lucas is just TRYING to piss us off!

If I remember correctly (it's been years since I've watched the audition), he auditioned doing some lovey dubby scene with Portman. It was cute because I think he honestly was attracted to her.

However, I think Hayden was worse in Jumper, which was a few years after ROTS. He seemed even more like a stick. He seems afraid to be vulnerable and show any real emotion. That seems like it would be lesson #1 for actors. You gotta be willing and able to be vulnerable and show emotion.

However I have heard plenty of people say Lucas directed him to talk kind of woodenly, to try and mimic the way James Erl Jones spoke. Don't know why that would carry over into Jumper tho.
