Mark Hamill is awesome! He's really a humble guy and a big fan who just happens to have played two of the greatest icons ever created in fiction -- Luke Skywalker and the definitive voice of The Joker, which to me are both just as great as anything Harrison Ford has ever played, and that includes Han or Indy.

Well you're still wrong. $380 million in 2005 is $481 million TODAY. $80 million more than Frozen, which is considered a phenomenon. Considering people had DVD, PPV, and everything else back then that's still a hell of a lot of people going out to see the final SW movie.

You'd have to be a real hater to twist these numbers...oh wait a minute

I can't imagine spending most of my waking moments on internet forums trying to defend those prequel movies. The energy required must be enormous. Almost as much energy required to sit through those movies with a straight face.

Probably the same amount of energy it's takes to bash them.

I dunno. I think I can count on one hand the folks who seem to turn up to "refute" every unfavorable prequel post at every given opportunity. The other side, not so much.

Yep, and I can count on the other hand the dedicated few that live to bash.
I think crying a river for over a decade has worn out a lot on both sides: Content Fan & Entitled Fan.
Be that as it may, both sides will be burdened with the other. So I'll just keep on enjoying what I have...AND what is to come.

As a non-fan, the prequels are garbage and fail miserably as movies to have any shred of artistic merit.

I'll enjoy it with you. I love the prequels, but I no longer see the point in arguing over them anymore. It just causes headaches and severe constipation.

umm it didn't even do the business that Spiderman did in 2002! The point I am making is 380 Million dollars for the grand finale that had been built up for almost 30 years was very weak. That's the point I am making...this has nothing to do with my personal "dislike" of the films and anyone trying to inject that into discussion I am making is just flat out wrong (even if I loved them) the numbers are still the numbers and they don't lie. These could be my favorite films of all time and I would still argue that 310 Million and 380 Million in early/mid 2000 dollars was far below expectations for these films. Which leads to the conclusion that they were not as well received or did not have the repeat business that had been hoped. I tend to think it was a little of both. I hope the new films will be good, and will be box office gold. Not so sure this will happen though.

Has any "6th" part of a film series done over $300million?
Just curious.

Furious 6? Nope.

Now, now. There are a lot of valid complaints about the prequels, but its box office performance is not one of them. Like you said, numbers don't lie, and by any measure, they all performed exceptionally well financially. Keep in mind, box office performance often has little to do with the quality of a film (see TMNT 2014 as an example).

I am willing to take bets from anyone who thinks Episode 7 is going to "underperform."

I love the prequels too, and agree, it's just not any fun bothering to argue about them with anyone anymore. Most worthwhile debates have been had about a decade ago, now it's just like some people see it as a sport to continue to whinge about films they don't like, ad nauseam. There are plenty of films I don't care for, but there's a difference between not liking a film and telling people they must be crazy/stupid/lacking taste to enjoy a film you don't... Not that I'm specifically accusing anyone here of that, but it happens far too often.

Factually, millions of people enjoy the prequels and fans of them, and all Star Wars actually, frankly just don't need to justify themselves to people who want to continually slag them off for whatever reason.

Sorry meant to say $380million domestic, since this is the latest topic at hand. So Mr. Potter part 6, falls short.
Are there any other "Part 6" films to bring in $380million?

I don't think so then. I can't think of any other big franchise (save slashers, but they never get even a quarter of that gross usually) that made it to 6 films except Star Trek, but none of them ever made as much as a Star Wars film.

Why oh why can't there be more people like you? I have beat that horse a thousand times if not a billion, but alas nothing changes. You sir, are a true scholar and a gentlemen of the highest pedigree for stating this. I am being totally honest with you too. There are so many movies out there that just are't for me, but I hope I never stoop to calling anyone an idiot for liking them. Live and let live on that front I say.

Well I enjoy the prequels. They all have their moments. I'll go into any Star Wars film with an open mind...I just hope the new ones come kinda close to the originals. A new hope was the first move I ever saw in the theater. I was 5 or 6 and it shaped the rest of my life. Movies....
