I agree. Well, to a point. If handled properly they can be interesting, powerful players despite their ages. I don't have 'Expendables' concerns on that front. But we've already seen them develop. We don't need to see new Luke/Leia/Han arcs.

Agreed. There were too many of them and some of them went on a little too long but for the most part they were excellent (and Duel of Fates is one of the high points of the entire saga).

I thought the visual blue v blue aspect of Jedi v Jedi worked very well onscreen. Particularly in the longer shots.

I think that's ridiculous nitpicking. The explosion throws you off your feet. Once it does that, the direction you get thrown in will be mostly dependent upon the force from the blast, which might not be even and the weight distribution and balance of your body once it's in the air. IMO, there's nothing wrong with this scene - it's totally believable.

People get old. Get over it. If this movie took place ten years after the events in Episode VI, that would be a problem. But it takes place 30 years later (right?). It lends a credence of authenticity to the characters and I hope that's reflected in the storyline: that the optimism and idealism of youth is usually destroyed over time and that whenever you think you've accomplished your goals, it's not really over. And the fact that the galaxy is still apparently at war and that the death of Vader and the Emperor didn't really change anything should also be reflected in the storyline and in the attitudes of Luke, Leia and Han (and possibly Chewie) at the very least. "The Great War" (WWI) was originally considered to be "the war to end all wars". How did that work out?

But I have a feeling they'll ignore all that and that Luke and Han will battle like they're still young.

I actually think that with the assistance of that toupee, Ford looks pretty good in spite of the crevices in his face. Hamill can look good because he's covered up with a beard and robes. I haven't seen a photo of Carrie Fisher as Leia yet, but in real life, she does look all of her 58 years, even having trimmed down, but I suspect most of that is due to her substance abuse problems. But again, I think it would be great if they somehow built that into the storyline - that she's had a very hard life since the events of episode VI and that's aged Leia.

But compare her to Rene Russo (61), Christie Brinkley (61), Sela Ward (58) or Angela Bassett (56), although they've all probably had surgery. All of those other actresses look pretty damned amazing for their age. When I was a kid, 60 was really, really old and people who were 60 generally looked pretty bad.

If they really wanted to, they could make them all look younger with CGI, but I'm really glad they're not taking that approach. Although if they wanted to show what happened 20 years before, I'd accept the CGI versions of these characters if it was done well.

I just wonder how George's ego will take it should this film become as beloved as the UOT? And I don't think that answer will be George retired and does not care. No way as he became so controlling and his ego inflated to the size of Texas.

Is that not a legitimate question? That was also not a "knock" on George at all as he deserved to get a large ego with what he created and what he has meant to the film industry. It is also well known that he did have a tight control on his babies.

I wonder if we will get the theatrical version of The Force Awakens on blu-ray or if Disney will alter it just to keep things uniform?

I am just excited for more Star Wars and I haven't seen anything in either trailer that gives me any cause for concern.

I haven't been following very close but is that black kid Luke's son? If so um...not sure what to think of that. If not then I am clearly not following things very close.

If Luke has a son, which I assume is the case based on what I could gather, does that mean he also has a wife? Now this could bring up an interesting plot twist as being close to Padme was what led to Anakin's fall in the first place and why the Jedi were against marriage and all that in the first place. So that, to me, does lead me to believe there is a chance he, Luke, could turn to the Dark Side or his Son could as well. I also feel like if the mother/wife say were killed that could be a very powerful motivator for them to seek revenge. Luke, much like his father, was over run by his emotions and rarely let logic dictate his actions. If his wife is killed for any reason just as losing Padme turned Anakin, that could turn Luke.

I do not think it diminishes Vader's story at all, this is the future times change no matter how neat and tidy you leave things they won't stay nice and neat forever.

Plus there is precedent, first from the E.U (despite no longer being official canon there is evidence they will draw inspiration from) and second there is from the pattern that Lucas set making each Trilogy mirror one another, by that logic which if JJ is as big a fan as he claims there is a good chance he will stick to that by making this arc similar to the previous. If this is going to be the finale of Star Wars then there needs to be a major build up to something more threatening than Palpatine ever was. Before the Clone Wars the entire galaxy was in perpetual peace for the most part, what fifty or so years of War and suddenly that becomes the norm? I don't by it I think after Jedi there had to be some period of true unity as evidenced by the (retconned) additions to Return of the Jedi.

Based on these observations I would find it more likely that Luke, or his offspring, will turn to the Dark Side and try to restore the Empire their grandfather was such a high ranking official in. Those are all my thoughts for now other than this movie looks great and I can't wait for this movie.

I don't want any of these new characters to have any relation to the old ones because that's just lazy and easy from a storytelling point of view. But certainly not because he's black! C'mon man, it's 2015. This lily white guy thinks it's great the main character is a black guy. And if he's the offspring of an interracial marriage, hey that's cool too.

That said I don't want our new heroes to have any of that baggage or any more of this legacy/birthright stuff. It's been done. New faces, new relationships, new stories.

I just finished watching Mark Hamill's panel from the 2015 Celebration on YouTube. No major news about Episode VII yet, but he did tell a funny story about having lunch with Lucas to discuss participation. When asked if he considered refusing, he said, "Well, there's really not a choice. If I'd said no, then you guys (gestures to fans) would surround my house like villagers with pitchforks, wanting to kill Frankenstein."

He also mentioned that during that visit with Lucas, his wife Marilou and Carrie Fisher both showed up. According to Hamill, Fisher waited about five seconds after learning of the new film, before screaming, "I'M IN!!!" She also asked if there was a part for her daughter, which has since been confirmed to be the younger Leia in a flashback.

The numbered episodes of the Star Wars saga follows the Skywalker family. Their story is also in important to the survival of the Jedi/Sith which could determine the fate of the galaxy.

Is this Rebels show a lot better than the Clone Wars show? I tried watching Clone Wars because people said it was good but I found rather terrible.

Sorry, don't care. I don't want to see the adventures of Luke Jr. or Han Solo Jr. Just strikes me as obvious and boring.

No kidding. Still, don't care. I didn't care back in the day when Star Wars was just Star Wars and not "the epic story of the Skywalker family" and I don't care now.

No little Luke, please.

The films should be about the Emperor's chef and paperboy.
