I understand what you mean. Well, for me it has always been "the epic story of the Skywalker family" even when Star Wars was just Star Wars. That aspect is what I love so much not just about lightsabers and space battles.

If I'd said no, then you guys (gestures to fans) would surround my house like villagers with pitchforks, wanting to kill Frankenstein."

He also mentioned that during that visit with Lucas, his wife Marilou and Carrie Fisher both showed up. According to Hamill, Fisher waited about five seconds after learning of the new film, before screaming, "I'M IN!!!" She also asked if there was a part for her daughter, which has since been confirmed to be the younger Leia in a flashback.
Marvellous, well that explains a lot re leia in footage.

A demo to show how practical the crossguard lightsaber is. Watch until the end for the conclusion.

Eh, I think you've still gotta enjoy the prequels to a certain degree (i.e. more than what Velvet does) to be able to really get into Clone Wars.

Kiddy tone, poor writing, boring plots, lame characters. I only watched like the first 4 episodes or so, though.

That show was awesome. Tartakovsky FTW.

I still like the CG show though, that last season is amazeballs.

You have to be kidding me. The Clone Wars TV show is infinitely better than the prequel movies in almost every aspect; writing, character development, plots, etc, especially the last few seasons. As for the "kiddy tone" remark, You couldn't be more wrong because The Clone Wars is chock full of violence, complex political topics, deep mysticism, and pretty heavy emotional subject matter. Don't let the cgi presentation or the occasional goofy humor fool you. This is a relatively mature show. You definitely need to revisit this series. The entire saga is on Netflix. I suggest you go back and watch again.

As to your original question, considering your misinformed attitude towards Clone Wars, I'd say don't even bother with Rebels until you have had a chance to revisit Clones. If your opinion of clones remains unchanged, Rebels won't be your thing either.

I'm guessing we'll see Carrie in a later trailer, probably around August or September. As for her daughter Billie, there hasn't been much said beyond a general description. I'm thinking they'll probably use her as a double, and replicate Carrie's younger face for close-ups with CGI.

The "movie" that opens the CG clone wars is terrible. The entire first season is boring as heck. After that, it gets slightly better, but once you get to season 3 and 4, things really pick up. The show is made up of 3-5 episode arcs instead of season long plots (or just standalone episodes) so here and there a few arcs aren't as good as others, but there is a ton of great backstory and some really good stuff in there. Plus lots of it is really dark too.

When they announced they were ditching the old canon and Clone Wars was basically the only thing staying I started watching on Netflix so I could know all the background, but by the end I was really impressed.

While I love what I've seen and really excited about this, I have to admit that the trailer (and the movie itself) looks and feels so right is because there are so many elements from the original trilogy carried over to the new movie. Stormtroopers, TIE fighters, X-Wings, Millennium Falcon, star destroyers, Luke, Han Solo, Chewie, etc. All the familar settings in the prequels also looks and feels exactly like the original trilogy i.e. scenes on Tattooine, droids, etc. though can never be as much. We know we'll get better acting and dialogue so I hope they also nail the story and honor the tradition and all the things that make it Star Wars.

That said the flashback scenes are something I'm not too fond of, because they will feel like something that had never existed in the past before being forced into our mind just to fit the new story. It's more subtle than what was done to the SE original trilogy for the prequels (if any) but the objective is the same.

That said I don't want our new heroes to have any of that baggage or any more of this legacy/birthright stuff. It's been done. New faces, new relationships, new stories.
Way to read too much into what I said. I don't care that the main character is black all I said was I don't know what to think if that is Luke's son. What I meant is that would mean that the mother has to be black which means it can't be Mara Jade which is where I was going with that. Unless they go and make her black which would be strange to me because I don't like when they switch races just for the sake of controversy its silly to me.

Except the very beginning (Ezra is shown as a complete Disney's Aladdin rip off), the first season is really good. It doesn't relate too much on the original cast and bring a fresh new one (especially the Inquisitor).
Well so far so good I would say, and I'm eager to watch the next one (way more when I was watching the CGI Clone Wars).
