I'm all fine with females leading the movie, Star Wars has no strong preference about that. But Alien is not a fair comparison, it's an original project, written for what it was. I can understand why many people is uneasy with females Ghostbusters though, it's an existing property. They can create a new property with all female leads and I'm sure almost no one will complain.

Default The Advertising Campaign of EP 7 Has Officially Begun.....

The very first press conference for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is slated to take place today in Tokyo, Japan.

The press conference will be the first major opportunity for journalists to have their questions answered by the team behind the movie itself. Leading the conference discussion are two people of prominence: leading lady Daisy “Rey” Ridley and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. Apparently they chose to have the first conference in Japan as a way of honoring the home nation of Akira Kurosawa, director of The Hidden Fortress and a major inspiration for the Star Wars saga.

Default Where They Are At In Production Phase! And The Story Info.

A rough translation of the info:

According to Kennedy at the stage now where rough editing is finished, advances the work, such as CG for the world all at once published the future, that the 1-2 month production of music by John Williams (83) later is started. “There is still a lot of story, the basic the” Star Wars Saga “that the family inheritance, the story of each and every universe is drawn will be,” I was told in depth and meaning.

A tease from Kathleen Kennedy as to what the story is going to be like:
Ms. Kennedy emphasized that “family is what we inherited. Family of Saga” is the base of this new trilogy.

My problem is that they're trying to turn every film in production (and every remake/reboot - see Ghostbusters) into "female driven," for bigger box-office draw. Screw the story, lets just show women in the lead, and that's that.

No, Hollywood is trying to have MORE female-driven movies, not "every film." Implying every movie is becoming female-driven is a laughable statement since male leads still absolutely dominate the medium.

When you already have 90% you can give up ten more without whining about it.

Statistically speaking, the number of female-driven movies has decreased over the past decade or so, but for some reason these idiots keep complaining that every movie from here on out will be female-driven, and the only example they can cite is that evil Ghostbusters remake.

AMC Planning a Star Wars Marathon for the Force Awakens

When The Force Awakens was announced, many fans wondered if there would be a re-release of the original movies before hand, and in one way there will be. While it’s not an “official” re-release of each movie leading up to Episode VII, AMC will be holding a marathon of the six movies prior to the premiere of The Force Awakens.

Following AMC’s massive Marvel movie marathon of eleven movies for the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron, the theater chain is planning the same thing for Star Wars in December.

According to the Star Wars Action News Facebook page, an AMC manager confirmed the plans:

And before someone gets you excited with false hope, these will just be the Blu-Ray cuts that Lucasfilm recently showed to fans at Star Wars Celebration.

When I browse the 'coming films' tab at my local theater's website, I can't find a single film that can be described as a female driven remake/reboot or otherwise a film where you would expect a male cast. Out of +150 announced coming attractions in production. Not one.

21 Jump Street. http://variety.com/2015/film/news/21...ll-1201484151/

Honestly not trying to put fuel on the fire, I don't mind more women in more and stronger roles. I just don't want it to be "forced" (excuse the pun). Episode VII doesn't qualify so I don't see the argument here.

Well, it's really just Sony. They want in on the multi film cross-over universes so badly. Spider Man was their big ticket and they blew that. Now we have 21 Jump Street/MIB cross over. We have them talking about a Ghostbusters universe. A female 21 Jump Street movie that will most certainly cross over with the Jonah Hill/Channing Tatem one. Their new idea is to create female versions of their successful films and create a multi film cross-over universe. I'm beginning to think that if Amazing Spider-Man 2 had done better, we just might be seeing that Aunt May film that was discussed in the leaked E-mails.

I thought the 21-22 Jump street movies were entertaining and the original Ghostbusters is a classic, but....really?!?!
Who the hell thought it would be a good idea to create a Ghostbusters universe of movies? Or, a friggin 21 Jump Street Universe?!? Who hires some of these Hollywood executives?

I enjoy films with strong female leads, so this is not criticizing the idea of female leads. Sony pictures is becoming a joke though. Seriously, they reek of desperation.
