Avatar was full of them and they were all incredible to say the least.

Agreed, and I'm not against it but Avatar was never promised to have old school practical effects as priority. Even Jabba can be a big puppet in 1982 I don't see why can't they do it now.

Because CG can make Jabba wield a lightsaber and do back flips!

But in all honesty, good CG can make a much better Jabba than in 1982, but it all depends on the director.

It all depends on not putting a tech demo from 1995 in the actual film.

Yeah I know, fine with me. I just thought they're going back to the fighting style of the OT that everyone was asking.

And what's wrong with all CG characters?

Especially ones rendered by Industrial Light & Magic?

Not to mention it's all subjective at the end of the day. I will always prefer the PT over the OT.

Also here is some great articles I found that perfectly defends the prequels from the ridiculous hate they get:

For it's time, the OT were jaw dropping popcorn movies that everyone could enjoy and be thrilled with the ride. The PT were just movies trying to be eye popping with CGI, but with dialogue that sounds worse than nails down a chalkboard.
l don't actually mind the storyline of the PT, as for the supposedly romantic scenes, all l can say is that l've seen better acting in porn....

I'm not sure what planet you live on but I don't think I've ever read a comment from you on these boards that I agree with.

Unless this was sarcasm...

It's so much better if we use names like....Mike and Tom.

Michael is piloting the x-wing...and...Tom picks up the lightsaber and brings it to Trader Joes.

Personally I have zero problem with the names revealed so far, they all feel very Star Wars to me and not at all out of place in a universe where people have names/titles like Jar Jar Binks, Darth Maul, Kit Fisto, Count Dooku, General Grievous, Biggs Darklighter, Porkins, Grand Moff Tarkin, Sy Snootles, etc.

Yes, it was full of them in a nearly entire CGI world. The blending was great. But stick those CGI bastards into a real stage/world and the uncanny valley kicks in BIGTIME. They stick out like a sore thumb.

I'm guessing the tech will be top notch and won't pull me out of the experience too much.

He was not all CGI, It was Mo Cap acting there are pics of Bill with dots all over his face, ILM added CGI over him. All CGI would be like Jar Jar in EP 1-3 or Dax in Ep 3, the Kaminos in Episode 2. They were not actors but totally done CGI and inserted.
