Speaking of Rebels, I really wonder where that serie is going to end. Technically some of them should be killed off, which I don't see happening in a kid friendly show.

I do like that we see more of Anakin being a strong leader and more of a gradual descent to the Dark Side, but outside of that last season (all the arcs of which are quite good, even the Jar Jar/Mac Windu buddy cop comedy), it's not an essential show by any means.
The Darth Maul stuff is worth sticking with if only for Palpatine's awesome moment at the end of that story arc.

I liked the Tartakovsky Clone Wars a lot, it was fun, but it didn't really fit in with the movies as well as the CG show does. The action was way over the top, characters very overpowered in a way that didn't gel with what we see in the movies. The later show tones it down a lot and I appreciate that.

But not yet...
I definitely think it's possible they'll return to the PT era at some point. They're sticking with the OT right now since the plan is to focus on that era and it makes sense since it's more connected to the sequel trilogy. But after they're done with this new trilogy, the first few spin-offs and Rebels, who knows? I could definitely see them get more experimental and start exploring new/different territory if all of these new movies are hugely successful.

It's kinda like how Marvel played it safe with the more familiar characters like Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, etc. while now we're seeing the Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange and so on. I could see Star Wars go down a similar road, and the spin-offs are a perfect opportunity to jump around in the timeline a bit, even going really far into the past or the future if they feel bold enough.

Some (I think most) episodes where Jar Jar appears have Ahmed Best doing to the voice, but in a couple others it's some other guy and it sounds completely off, like if he has a cold or something.

I could easily see it go through a similar evolution as Clone Wars did, and by the third or fourth season (depending on how long it lasts) it may be as serious and dark (by kid's show standards) as its predecessor got in later seasons. We may get a few main character deaths then.

Oh I'm too far in, there's no turning back now. Just kinda miffed about having to sit through mental Darth Maul, then overly talkative Darth Maul, and so on. Frankly I think it would've been much better to just have Savage Opress (what a badass name, btw) avenging his brother's death single-handedly.

it's not like Lucas is trying to shoehorn a story in at this point.....the tv series is done......it's a completely different situation than when Lucas was making the prequels.

Terminal Cancer Patient's Dying Wish is to See 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

Quote:
This is what you call commitment to a cause.

A Texas man who doctor's say should have already died is hanging on as long as he can just to watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Daniel Fleetwood, 32, suffers from a connective tissue cancer. His doctor's gave him two months to live back in July, but he is fighting to make it at least to the Dec. 18 release of the film.

"Judging by how progressive the disease has gotten in the past two months, I really don't think that I'll be able to make it," he told KPRC.

The hashtag #ForceForDaniel has been started to encourage the franchise to set up a special screening for Fleetwood ahead of the worldwide premiere.

Star Wars stars Mark Hamill and John Boyega have both been retweeting messages in support of the campaign.

Not sure what you mean. I am just saying canon spin-off material (books, cartoons, games, comics) are always disregarded as soon as an actual movie wants them to be. Right now all the new movies are post-RotJ, so Clone Wars is canon because why not, but as soon as someone has a movie idea that contradicts that cartoon it's gone like pudding pops.

lucas had to force things and add a lot of "fluff" to make the prequels fit w/the original trilogy. that wouldn't be the case w/any of the new movies......they wouldn't be forced to shoehorn soemthing in to make it fit in the canon. they could work the new story around what has already been released.

if a contradiction did come up.....then i'd say that's just laziness on the writers and everyone involved. it's not like there's that much out there considered to be canon now vs. when there were books, comics, games, and whatever else.

what's all considered canon anymore?? the 6 movies, the clone wars and rebels tv series, and a book or two.

if the people making movies can't research that little bit.....well that's just sad.

Thing is though the Almighty Creator is no longer in charge at LFL, he ignored and contradicted and retconned anything that he damn well pleased simply because he could, whereas I get more of a respectful feeling towards the canon from the current custodians so the events of the 6 movies, Clone Wars and (one assumes) Rebels are set in stone.

Besides, they cleared the decks of all the EU stuff so they could have a properly unified approach to the storytelling of all the forms of SW media that are out there, unlike Lucas whose response to the EU was basically 'meh, where's my money', so if they start throwing out stuff for the sake of it then they'll quickly undermine that new stance. I know that won't keep them awake at night (filmmaker in 'going back on their word' shocker) but still, there's a reason why only x amount of the previous SW stuff was kept as canon and I'd like to think they'll stick to their guns.

there's really no reason to dismiss the previous "canon" and only keep a handful if they don't plan to stick to it either.

A similar situation happened a few years ago with Star Trek Into Darkness. I'm sure Abrams won't mind doing it again.

I'm surprised you guys don't know about the story group. The people in charge of the movies, TV shows, games, and books have weekly meetings to discuss what they're all planning on doing so they don't contradict each other.

At least that was supposed to be about writing new history for Star Trek. Well, before they decided to retread some of Trek's most hallowed ground anyway...

The movie is not finished yet. John Williams was doing pick ups just a few days ago, no way that sound mix is done.
