I kind of dismissed Interview with the Vampire when it was released but it's really, really grown on me over the years.

When I go a few years without seeing it, a lot of the details fade, except for that scene where Peter supposedly kills Evil Ed. In my opinion, that is maybe the most haunting vampire death scene I've ever seen. When I first saw it as a kid, I felt so bad for Ed that it actually made me feel a type of grief for him that made me feel physically ill.

Fright Night wipes the floor with those films! Even Near Dark is better than them IMO. But my absolute favorites are Let the Right One In and Thirst.

It's possible that I agree with you. It's been a few years since I've seen any of them. I plan to watch them all in the same night that Fright Night arrives. Then, I'll be able to have them all fresh in my mind when I update my opinion.

I definitely don't agree with Near Dark being better than Bram's or more enjoyable than Lost Boys though. But I do enjoy ND. I thought Let the Right One in was good, but not as good as the ones we've mentioned.

I'd never even heard of Thirst until you mentioned it. I just read the synopsis, and it looks really interesting. I'm a fan of a few of the people involved, so I'm definitely going to check it out. Thanks for mentioning it.

I mostly agree with the second bolded statement. Though there are a couple of werewolf films that I think are equal in quality to Fright Night, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and The Lost Boys: The Howling, Silver Bullet, An American Werewolf in London, and The Company of Wolves.

I'm definitely going to make it a point to watch the Nosferatus within the next month. I would hate to be missing out on them if they're truly as good (and I believe they probably are) as every one says they are.
If you enjoy silent films, or are at least open to giving them a try, I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to appreciate the original Nosferatu. I consider it to be one of the very best silents I've seen, granted I haven't seen all that many, but most/all of them are classics. The remake is more in the art film vein, so again, if you're into that sort of thing it should appeal. I'll be interested in reading your thoughts on them, and especially knowing which is your preferred version.

I've seen and enjoy most of those werewolf movies (aside from Company of Wolves), but I would still say the best vampire films are superior.

I agree, not bad at all, rather good in fact. Maybe the best vampire movie of the '90s.

no offense to fans but BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA and INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE were both terrible disappointments to me...

the former had good effects but somehow managed to get dreadful performances from most of the cast including Hopkins and Ryder and gave us a "grunge" Dracula with a thoroughly unappealing Gary Oldman...

the latter was a crude, ugly, and unpleasant flick that was about as fun as having a root canal....

I'll definitely let you know.

And I agree with both of you about Interview. It's a shame that the rest of the vampire chronicles novels haven't gotten quality film adaptations. Aside from Aaliyah's physical perfection, Queen of the Damned wasn't worth watching.

While not really a werewolf film, I would rank Wolfen very highly and think it holds its own against the best of the vampire films. That is a film that I would love to see get a Blu-ray release.

Well thats fine because i collect vampire films too. I thought i saw it in a slasher list but i guess i was wrong. All i know is that it was in one of my to buy lists i had on my computer before it crashed last month and lost all this shopping lists i had. Iam not even going to read about it on IMDB to avoid any spoilers.

Seconded. And it would be nice if Tom Waits' cameo was restored (it was cut from the video and DVD because of music clearance issues).

Any guesses on how long this will take to sell out? I won't be home tomorrow until around 6 or 7, so hopefully it won't sell out in 3 hours....

Anyone remember how long it took for the first release to sell out?

The first release won't be representative of this. TT wasn't well known then, so it only sold out after it was released. Recent horror titles like Christine are better indicators. This will probably sell at least 3,000 in about 8 hours or so, both Christine, and The Blob managed that (the latter with a stricter limit). This title being higher in demand could potentially sell out in under 12 hours. It depends on whether they institute any strict limits right out of the gates. I think you should be fine, but definitely try and get that order in asap when you get home.

I'm also wondering how it will sell considering 3000 are out in the wild already.

I don't like Bram Stoker's Dracula for a number of reasons but mostly for Keanu Reeves. I liked Near Dark more than The Lost Boys and saw both for the first time in the past few years. Lost Boys seemed like it was aimed at the MTV/teen demographic in comparison. I can see why it would be more popular from a wish-fulfillment/nostalgia standpoint.

Let the Right One In is not just my favorite vampire film, it's one of my favorite films. I think you'll like Thirst more though, because it's more comedic, like The Lost Boys was to Near Dark.

How many of those are owned by true diehard fans of the film and how many were grabbed by scalpers? Out of the "scalped" copies, which are more than likely currently in the hands of folks who paid through the nose after it sold out AND aren't necessarily members of internet message boards who post several times a day, how many of those people will care enough to upgrade to this new edition? How many happen to know about it? How many people who own the first release are totally happy with it and may not want to upgrade? All of this will factor into your question. I don't want to make predictions but I will speculate that, with 5,000 copies available, even factoring in the film's popularity, this WON'T sell out within the first 5 minutes
