Maybe I'm wrong but I still think the chances are slim. Even if the replication plant got the titles to SAE early they still have to pack and ship the order before the release date. Then the package has to arrive by the release date. Maybe someone in the local area of SAE would get it by release date if SAE ships it by the 19th.
True...most likely its because sae is so comparatively small and the traffic they deal with is up. But we can hope

I have plenty of CD-Rs from the late '90s that I can still read (music and data). I didn't get my first DVD burner until 2003, but I've always used nothing but Taiyo-Yuden DVD-Rs, and so far, I've not had one fail. And I've recently played (movies) and accessed (data discs) a lot of those discs from 2003 and 2004. I do worry that the time may come when I can't read them, but so far, so good.

What are these 20th Century Films you mentioned before?
You mean 1985.

My memories of Fright Night go back to the 80s when I was a teen. I used to watch it on HBO a lot. I know I must've seen it at least a dozen times...always enjoyed it. Can't wait to retire my dvd and finally watch it on blu.

I did the exact same thing! I even remember the trailers on TV.
Ahh, Memory Lane!

Is the transfer of Fright Night on Netflix Instant the same as the Twilight Time BD? Fright Night is one of my favorite films, but I missed out on the first BD in '11 because I didn't even know of Twilight Time at the time, much less that they were releasing Fright Night. I did preorder the 30th anniversary edition but I would to get an idea of what it will look like on BD.

Sony very likely supplied the same master to Netflix that they gave to TT.

I don't think there's any secret as to why Sony themselves decided to release Fright Night and Christine in Germany last year . They also released Oliver long before the US release by TT and for half the price.

It's good that TT are doing so well with their business model but it's equally good that certain films I don't think are worth TT prices are available elsewhere for half the price .

I wanted Fright Night when it came out and toyed with buying it for several days and before I could make up my mind it was sold out.
So the German release was perfect.

However I shall definitely be going for the Harryhausen titles and even though I have the TT Journey/Center/Earth I shall be getting it again.

Here in the UK none of the titles I've mentioned are available on Bluray

I watched it on Netflix a few months ago and it looked great, can't wait to receive my copy in the mail. I hadn't heard about TT until after the first release and missed out on it.

Mostly likely the Netflix streaming version is from the same source, but that's not always the case for Sony's catalog. Vudu has Night of the Living Dead 1990 in HDX and it doesn't have the awful color timing that the Twilight Time blu-ray has.

I'm excited to get the Fright Night 30th anniversary release since I missed out on it the first time, and it's awesome that this one has good extras.

Amazon Prime also has Night of the Living Dead in 1080p and yesterday I finally took off the shrink wrap of the TT release and compared it to it. Pretty big difference indeed. I think if I had watched it in total darkness then it would've helped. But I stuck with it and did something different: I watched it with the isolated score track and the subs on, and it was actually pretty cool that way.

Solid chance it's from the same source. But even so, I'm guessing the Netflix version might be more compressed, which may bring down the picture/sound quality a bit? I'm just guessing here, but maybe the version you can stream might be a smaller compressed file? Do they have HD audio for the netflix version?

Man, can't wait for my copy of the blu ray.

If this is the only release this films will ever get, than I am thrilled they got released. Good for those that got copies, but I believe many of the TT titles would do fine and generate more $$ at a lower price point. But alas I unfortunately don't own the rights...
You're not factoring in things like the cost of having lawyers and bean counters combing over sales to ensure they're getting their cut and the lost revenue from unsold discs and discounts and price drops etc. This model ensures a clean one and done business deal. No fuss. No muss.

The netflix streaming version is compressed and won't look as good as the blu-ray. I just meant that the netflix streaming version and blu-ray probably come from the same HD master with the same color timing unlike Night of the Living Dead 1990. No, netflix streaming doesn't have HD audio as far as I know. The best you'll generally get from netflix streaming is Dolby Digital Plus.

Of course the streaming versions are much more compressed and won't look nearly as good. However if its the same master it should be a guideline for how the blu ray will look.

Of course this already came out once, so the guideline already exists.

Hi,
I work with SAE and I can tell you all that we have researched our system and can assure you that this JOKER is only just that a JOKER and scum trying to cause problems. We have been very strict with the limitations for each of these titles that we have been canceling orders with multiple quantities over the limits and canceling the additional orders with any matching addresses, names, credit cards etc to keep the sales as fair as possible and the scalpers at bay. Please don't fall for this guys lies!

Whether it is just a joke or not, this only causes problems here on the boards, as well as with customers contacting us and chewing us out for something that is not true, or that has already been taken care of and put into the proper parameters.

Let's please all play honestly!

Thank you purchases and support,

Hello awesome person of SAE,

Question, why do you guys price your titles so high and why limit them?
Why not a bigger print run? Why not prices like $14.99 or $19.99?
And if $29.99, why not release them in Steelbook cases or digibooks?

And please dont say Sony or the other sudios forced you guys to the way you distribute the titles, because they certainly do not restrict Shout Factory(Fox/MGM titles), Kino (Fox/MGM titles), Mill Creek(Sony titles) or Image/RLJ (Sony titles).

Why put a limit, when all it does is create scalpers?

Please advise.

Let's please all play honestly!

Thank you,

Avid Blu Ray Consumer.

Where do you get this figure?

$30 X 5,000 units = $150,000 total.

That leaves $75,000 for both TT and Sony.

Have I missed something?

Dear Avid Blu Ray Consumer,

Why are you asking the SAE person questions that can only be, and already have, been answered by Twilight Time? SAE are just the vendor.
