No sorry. I was responding to the previous post about shipping notices. I did, in fact, receive a package from SAE yesterday and thought it was Fright Night. But it actually was just the rest of my order:

Birdman of Alcatraz
Bunny Lake is Missing
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie

Patterns I usually see -- US customers who order a single item get shipments first followed by US multi-item 2-3 item orders and then international orders. Large orders with 4+ items often seem to get held up especially if it's all new releases because without fail there will be at least one late arriving pressing.
This is all pretty accurate based on past experiences.

That's what I find as well being in the UK and usually waiting until I have 4 or 5 titles in the order. Mine usually ship around a week after release date and many US customers have already received it by then.

Has anyone been charged for their orders of Fright Night? I was charged day one $34 and change noticed my balance went down and that it was pending from my bank account back in December. Now there is nothing pending and I can't find the charge in my previous transactions. I'm just afraid that they'll charge me twice. I've had this happen to me before through Shout Factory.

I've never had a problem with SAE as far as transactions are concerned.

I used my debit card and they charged me that same day. If they charge me again I'm going to raise hell because the charge is no longer shown on my bank statement, yet the money they put on hold or whatever nonsense they do was not returned to my account. Putting that early charge on your card before they actually charge you on release is damn silly. You could have the money in your account or available credit on a credit card when they do that but when it comes time to ship and charge you for real you could have maxed out the card or have no money in your bank account by then.

I just don't get the point. Am I missing something?

SAE does not charge your debit/credit card until the order ships. Of course there will be a pending charge when you order (so that they can verify that the card is legit and that it has adequate funds), but that will disappear in a few days.

Of course all Paypal transactions are charged immediately.

It's the same thing when paying at the pump of a gas station except they only put a hold of $1 until the final payment goes through. I don't know why SAE doesn't do the same thing for pre-orders but it's still silly to freak out about it since it's fairly common practice.

actually, quite a few gas stations put a $100 hold on your card until the charge finalizes.... some people here must have a heart attack when that happens!!

If you check, you'll likely find no money was actually taken. It was an authorisation hold that would drop off in a week or so. It'll really take the money when it ships.

Sorry to be so blunt, but that would be your own fault.

Many people get confused by authorisation holds, but it's good practice to learn not to confuse a hold with a charge then you won't get caught out when it ships. If you really don't like it, and that's a perfectly understandable attitude, you should pay by PayPal in future so you get charged right away and won't accidentally spend it.

This is correct. Pre-Authorizations are to verify validity of the card and there are funds in the account. They then drop off your account, no funds were taken. When your order is preparing for shipment, they then run your card for a real authorization and then pull the money once this authorization has cleared. Many places do this. I have worked in credit card fraud for 7 years. You won't be double charged. Pay by Paypal if you want to pay upfront and not deal with this. If anyone ends up having issues, feel free to PM me. I will assist you in issues you have and explain what needs to be done to fix them. It need not apply to this issue in particular either. All it takes is a little explanation and someone willing to take the time walk you through the perils of the digital age.

Ha! You guys are all awesome. Thanks. it's my *golden* birthday too (30 on the 30th) so the timing of this release is particularly auspicious.
